As I said in my last post, I wanted to do some character building, but not a big character like Han Solo, more background characters to finish up Jabba's Palace and patrons of the Cantina. Today I have three named background characters from Jabba's Palace, first is Rennek, here is his background :
Rennek was a Human male who worked as a nerf herder for the Tatooine-based Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure.
I've included a reference picture as well, and below is what a Nerf looks like in case you wondered.
Next is Murttoc Yine here is his background :
Murttoc Yine was a male Human information broker and spy who worked at crime lord Jabba the Hutt's palace on the planet Tatooine by 4 ABY. Having many nefarious contacts in the criminal underworld, Yine was the contact point for many seeking Jabba's employment.
Last today is Palejo Reshad here is his background :
Palejo Reshad was a native of the planet Corellia. He worked as a spice trader, and operated out of his homeworld's city of Bela Vistal. Sometime after the year 0 BBY, Reshad was doing trading business with associates of the crime lord Shalera the Hutt when he was blackmailed by a man who recorded the conversation.
As is customary here is a group shot of all three
All three models started as plastics for other systems on the legs and bodies, the heads were spares from Legion, as were the arms, costumes are mostly greenstuff or just details added, as I'm trying to convince my hands that they want to work properly, so I can get on with some work for customers. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave

Another great looking miniatures Dave!
ReplyDeleteLove it 😀
Thank you Michal, I want to do a lot more for my Star Wars project this year, so expect to see more ! LOL
DeleteThis is really cool stuff! I really appreciate how the background characters get their time to shine in your Star Wars projects. These three look very at home on Tatooine too! As I've mentioned before, when I was a kid, there was a Star Wars card game and they made cards for EVERYONE in the original trilogy and so I often recognize these characters who were on screen for almost no time at all and its incredible to see them represented as minis.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, I'm getting close to finishing all of Jabba's palace and the cantina, then I'll have to find some more obscure characters ! LOL Agreed a lot of these characters were only on screen for seconds or buried behind other characters so you don't really see them at all, I've found one that appears in only one scene for two seconds but can't find a name for him, so will have a nameless character or two to do at some point ! LOL
DeleteExcellent work. I love seeing your different character builds, and I'm always amazed at the characters you manage to find.
ReplyDeleteI wonder, will you ever run out of Star Wars stuff to do?
Thank you misterc, I could just stick to the main characters but it would look rather empty in the cantina and palace throne room ! LOL As for running out, I will have sections completed, but I doubt I'll ever run out totally ! LOL
DeleteI suppose you do have a whole galaxy to draw from, even if it is a long time ago and far, far away.
DeleteBut seriously, love seeing these obscure characters.
Good to hear as there are a lot more coming, as I try to retrain my hands to keep sculpting.
DeleteYou know, I've seen the original trilogy more times than I can count and I never know ANY of these guys! Awesome as always, Dave!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith, for some of these, you either need to go through frame by frame and look in the corners or shadows, or spend far too long on the internet ! LOL Glad you enjoy them, as I have more to come.
DeleteThree great but really obscure characters, that first chap look like a sci/fi "pimp" to me in his furry jacket. 😂
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, I had the same thought when I first looked at him, then I thought the jacket was maybe made from a Tauntaun, until I researched his background ! LOL
DeleteLol you know, I never knew what a Nerf Herder looked like until today, scruffy indeed.
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, indeed, it's why a found a picture of a Nerf as well, to give all the information ! LOL
DeleteNow unusually, these three I am not aware of at all - good stuff Dave! They are great recreations indeed.
ReplyDeleteAnd Dai again...
DeleteThank you Dai, these three are background to the background ! LOL got some even more obscure coming up ! LOL
DeleteLove the way you manage to create these kitbashes and conversions that really look like the characters that no-one ever saw. Outstanding work again mate!
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazael, the kitbashes are a lot quicker and easier than the full sculpts, which certainly helps with the struggles with my hands at the moment, but I refuse to let it slow me down ! LOL
DeleteAll nicely done, Dave! :-) Don't know how you manage to find out all the reference material! And here was me thinking Nerf Herder was just the band that played the theme tune from Buffy The Vampire Slayer!
ReplyDeleteThank you, a lot of time on google, and once I find a clue, keep plugging away until I find all the details I need ! LOL The Palitoy range of figures is useful, but not always accurate, as is Wookiepedia. I always thought a Nerf Herder was the guy unlucky enough to be in charge of picking up all the shots from a Nerf Gun battle ! LOL
DeleteSorry, Dave, Anonymous above was me, forgot to put me name (doh)! I like your definition of a Nerf Herder!
