UPDATE

Greetings, firstly my deepest apologies for not commenting on any of your awesome sites, I have been reading them all and they very much have helped keep me entertained during my absence. I may well be away from the computer for a while longer, but while I had this opportunity I wanted to give an update as many people had been asking on their blogs, or in comments, or emails, all very much appreciated.

So what's been going on, well about a month ago I got a pain in my ribs, didn't think too much about it, as I get ghost sensations of broken ribs with my Fibromyalgia on a regular basis ( been fighting this horrible disease now for 18 Years), over the week I found it harder and harder to catch my breath, saw my Doctor the following Monday, who sent me in straight away for tests, turns out I had fluid on my left lung, over the next two weeks I had over 5 liters of fluid drained from my lung, and need to go back in again, to have more drained. Yesterday I got the results from the biopsy that was taken, and the tests on the fluid, and I have Cancer, that was caused by Asbestos, I have already been referred to Oncology, and just waiting on their recommendations on treatment, and when we can start. This form of Cancer isn't curable, but can be held at bay with the right treatment, so I should still be around for a long time, as we have caught this early, and the Specialist said with my age being younger (who's he kidding I'm in my 50's ! LOL) and my strength ( ! WTF ! LOL) we have a good chance of stopping it advancing, so I'm not out of the fight yet.

What does this mean for Season of Scenery, well my output maybe very slow, especially as My disabled bathroom is being started next week, and likely to take three weeks, but much needed. Keep posting up your fantastic entries as there as been so many already, and I will do a summary post at the end as always obviously giving everyone time to get their final posts up, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Yikes Dave! So sorry to hear of it. Finger crossed that you'll get on to an effective treatment soon, and with that some relief.

  2. If anyone can fight this successfully it is YOU Dave. May your fight be one that gives you all the time to do that which you love. I'll be pulling for you and praying for you. I'm sorry I only recently jumped back into the blogosphere to learn of your recent challenges. Again, I'm pulling for your best life! You deserve it - now on to victory!

  3. I know a little of the issue as my wife works directly with that stuff. If the oncologist can keep it at bay by turning it into a chronic condition (and it seems so!) I would say those are good news, given the [redacted] that these illnesses are. Take it easy and I hope everything turns OK. All the best.
PS: I've just finished some scenery, I'll try to post it later tonight!
