During the "Paint What You Got Challenge" I ran at the beginning of the year I mentioned I was lucky enough to get two LAAT patrol transports and the first one I painted during that challenge, the second one I wanted to convert into a landed version, this meant bending the bottom front wings, and also swinging the back ramps back and out, now I spent a long time stressing about whether the conversion would take the weight of the ship, but with the latest challenge running, decided to just get on with it and go with minimal reinforcement which turned out to be enough to support the weight.
I've made sure to include a shot with models for scale purpose, as I forgot when I did the first one, that's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
That looks really nice, Dave! :-) I'm pleased you've done the landed variant, as that thing just does not look as though it should be flying!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, very true of a lot of the Imperial ships to be honest, as they seem to have no idea about aerodynamics and lift ! LOL
DeleteI thought I'd commented on this post, is Blogger playing up? Anyway, great job on getting the transport to look as if it's landed and deployed troops! As John says, it really looks like it has the aerodynamic qualities of a brick LOL!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, I think it's the new posting service as I couldn't post for an hour the other Morning. I think the Empire and the Imperium in 40K use the same ship designers ! LOL
DeleteGreat, now I’m gonna have that song stuck in my head ALL day. 😀
ReplyDeleteNext time try working in Rock and Roll Suicide as it’s much better song.
Great job on the ship.
Sorry about that Stewart ! LOL Could have been worse with some of the metal songs I listen to.
DeleteGlad you like the ship, and I remembered the model shot for you this time.
Looks pretty awesome, and I love the grays.
ReplyDeleteThank you Faust, it was actually painted with Corax White, and White Scar, I just dirtied it down with a black glaze for weathering, which gives the greyish look.
DeleteThat's a cracking bit of kit, lovely conversion Dave.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael, as a kit it goes together well for the most part, and the conversion was actually easier than I thought it would be ! LOL
DeleteNice work on this ship (both versions!) - not one I'm familiar with, but that's true for a lot of the EU stuff.
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazel, appeared heavily in Star Wars Rebels, and also the last season of The Clone Wars, which is why it comes with both Imperial pilots and Clone pilots.
DeleteIt wasn't until the final photo that I realisedjust what a size the model was - turned out looking great too !
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, it's just over half the length of the one I did at the beginning of the month, but was a lot more complex of a kit to build, even without the conversion ! LOL
DeleteNice-looking model. I like the dirty look you gave it, which keeps with rough-and-ready vibe of much of the equipment from the lore and movies.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann, as my gaming is going to be set on Tatooine, I want all the vehicles to have the dusty dirty look, plus as you say it matches with the films and live action series
DeleteWell done on this ship, Dave! I have to admit, I didn't recognize this one at first but after Googling it, I see where you got your inspiration from. As with all your ships, the size and scale of them is really impressive. I don't know how you manage to store them all! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, as you know I really like a Star Wars Rebels, and these feature heavily in it. Scale wise they are a little small to the reference, but close enough. As for the storage lots of shelves, but will need more soon ! LOL
DeleteThought I replied to this one? Might have been one of those posts I start writing, get distracted, then assume I hit "publish". Anyway - this thing has come up really well! I mean, it's a crazy nonsensical SWEU/Legends design, but you've made it look really cool here!
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazel, no problem mate, done that myself ! LOL It is a strange design indeed, had to watch the Rebels series a few times to get the landing position right, as I couldn't find a reference picture at all ! LOL
