HAPPY NEW YEAR

Firstly I'd like to wish you all a very happy new year, and let's hope 2022 we can return to some sense of normal.

The next set of models I have to show is some HK assassin droids, now I didn't know much about these ( I know weird Dave doesn't know something about Star Wars ! LOL) so I did a quick search on Wookiepedia and found this

The HK-series assassin droid, also known as the HK series protocol droid, was a series of combination of assassin droids and protocol droids. The series designation stands for "Hunter Killer," befitting their primary functions as assassins. They were originally manufactured by Czerka Corporation,[1] then eventually by the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[2] Their ability to perform the functions of a protocol droid became a major reason for their unmatched lethality, as they could and would often act as normal (if quite sinister looking) protocol droids, thus concealing their true function and allowing them to get closer to intended targets.

If you wish to read the full article you can find it starwars.fandom HK-series assassin droid

So a image google search found some colour schemes that I found interesting, and here are the results.

First is HK-47 I thought the rusty approach was interesting, and was a relatively quick scheme to do.

Next is HK-50 this was an easy scheme to do using a really thin blue glaze to get the right tone.

Next is HK-51 this one had a lot more detail on it with all the markings, and was very fitting for the Empire being a lot of white.

The last one is HK-55 I really liked the dark grey and gold combination.

And a group shot to finish off.

Still working on my robot bikers for Judge Dredd, so will hopefully have those finished soon, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

IT'S ALL WHITE NOW

Now I'm not talking about the weather, as we haven't seen a single flake of snow down here, but certain officers of the Empire from Star Wars.

First is Director Krennic, as seen in the film Rogue One, and is now known as the driving force on the construction of the Death Star.

Totally enjoyed the painting of this one, and matching him up to the reference picture above.

Next is Grand Admiral Thrawn, this master tactician was defeated by Ezra Bridger, in Star Wars Rebels, but has been mentioned in season 2 of the Mandolorian, and is rumoured to be making a live action appearance in the upcoming series Ahsoka.

Painting wise I've tried to match the above reference picture, and think he's come out quite well.

So these are my first two entries, for paint what you got challenge, there well be more Star Wars models coming up for this challenge, and I'm currently working away on 7 bikers for Judge Dredd, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

WAMP RATS ROASTING ON A OPEN FIRE

A long time ago I showed a Sand people female and child I sculpted, then the project got completely forgotten about during my move. I cleared through a box the other day and found them again, so thought why not get them painted, and while I was at it, made another 3 and got them painted too.

Above is a scenic group shot to get the atmosphere going.

Above is the first Female I made, and is quite a basic pose, and based on the above reference picture.

This was the child I made and the reference picture it's based on.

This one was based on the above toy that was released with a child in a papoose .

These last two were based on the above screen shot from episode 2 " Attack of the Clones"

That's all for this post, and just leaves me to say I hope you all have a great holiday season, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

PAINT WHAT YOU GOT CHALLENGE

Firstly I'd like to wish all the followers, commentators and casual drop ins a very merry Christmas !

Now to the challenge, as with last years it is open on scale, and subject matter, it just has to be completed between the 26 th of December, and the 31 st of January, this can include models that were started before this date. You can include scenery and vehicles, you set your targets.

For me I hope to clear some existing projects, and if I'm lucky enough to get some new models for Christmas, I may include some of them as well.

Here are some examples from last years challenge

Some of us are going to try and clear some Judge Dredd miniatures, so if you want to join in on that subject, you are more than welcome, if you would like to take part, leave a comment below, and if yours is a blog I don't follow, leave a link in your comment.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

U-WING

Managed to finish the painting of the U-Wing this week, gone with a weathered look to show being in battles and planetfalls. I've also tried a different way of painting the windows on the underside, by using silver washes, and blue glaze

The colour scheme came from the one seen in Rogue One dropping pathfinders on Scarrif as the example below shows.

Frank asked if I'd gone for this toy because of price, now the price was reasonable, but the main reason for using this one was the scale of it, as it was the closest scale I could find for use with the figures, as shown below.

I'm still looking for a Y-Wing, and B-Wing in a suitable scale to finish  the Rebel ships, and there is a lot of Imperials I still need to find as well, the scale I tend to look for is 1:48 as that's the closest in the scale that kits are readily available, though 1:35 would be better, it's not a scale that Star Wars kits appear very often.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

PATHFINDERS & RIDE

Back to normal this week, and finished off the squad of Pathfinders, there were 3 models left to do.

First is the unit leader, and as you can see by the reference picture above, he seems to have been loosely based on this character from the movie.

Next was the model kneeling which I decided to base the colours on the reference picture above.

Last was a female model, which I decided to go for a dark skin tone, which adds to the variation in the unit, the face shape was very well suited to this skin tone.

A while ago I mentioned doing a vehicle for them, and I've gone with a U-Wing, the basis for this was the Hasbro U-Wing toy which has a Nerf gun in it. Being a toy rather than a model, it's designed for playability, rather than accuracy.

The first thing needed, was to strengthen the wings as they are hollow  as seen above.

I used plasticard to strengthen the wings, and cover the large hole from removing the Nerf blaster, the rest of the holes were filled with Milliput, and greenstuff as seen above.

Why show this, well for anyone thinking of doing the same I wanted to show what you would be up against, as you can get this toy on Ebay for about £20 at the moment.

That's all for this post, hopefully next time I will have progress on the painting, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave
