As I continue clearing my shelves of grey, this week I focused on my noise marine bikers. This army was originally started for going to a tournament, while building it the army list changed and you could no longer have noise marine bikers, which was around the time I lost interest in continuing on with the army. Now I longer am physically able to go to tournaments, and going to use my own rules for playing, don't have to worry about what you can or can't have according to the rules.
All the models were converted, some more than others. First we have the one that is closest to the standard Bike model, the only conversion was the weapon a sonic blaster.
Next another biker with a sonic blaster, which also has a converted head and tentacle arm
This one has his right arm embed in the sonic blaster and a coverted head
Next one was originally the Doomrider model, with new right arm different head and a sonic blaster fitted
This one is armed with a doom siren, made from a backpack, the head was scratch built, and the arm came from a champion model
And the last one is the champion, all the parts used on the rider, were standard parts from a champion model, he is also armed with a doom siren which was scratch built
There is 6 models in the squad as this was the Slaanesh number, which used to give you bonuses in the rules, but that has since been lost. Next time will probably be something else, so I don't get fed up of painting pink and black ! LOL
So until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave
A fine bit of work Dave, would I be right in thinking that this army was been built with what was the holy grail of chaos codex the 3.5 one ?
ReplyDeleteThank you Frank, and your spot on with the codex, it was the best one in my opinion, with plenty of scope to make proper themed armies
DeleteSo good Dave and great that you are clearing so much of the backlog. The collection must be quite a sight by now.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael, it does feel good to clear a lot, but still a few areas of grey to clear ! LOL
DeleteYou do seem a bit fixated on pink ;) Amazing looking models, I'll try and see them in their full glory on the laptop. As Michael said - it's always good to get old stuff painted, whish I could do the same, but I've got sidetracked into pirates, although that was fairly easy thing to be sidetracked into, Arghhh me hearty.
ReplyDeleteThank you John, currently painting something that involves no pink whatsoever to cleanse the palette ! LOL Currently resisting the temptation to get anything new to clear these old projects, as the shelf of all painted models looks so much better. Understand wanting to work on pirates with all Martin has been working on, want to do some sci-fi ones at some point, but need to finish other bits first
DeleteYet again these look better on the laptop. I got my last batch of Pirates the other day, they were undercoated today so about 36 of them, almost all Black Scorpion, should take about 3 years at my glacial pace of painting :)
DeleteThank you John, they would look even better if I could get my photography right ! lol
DeleteIf you have a character you want painted would be happy to do it for you in the colours of your choice, and when you get chance to pop down will show you some quick easy techniques to help mate
Nice work Dave!
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon
DeleteWow, impressive bikers...and pink/purple shades...
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil, the pink can become daunting after a while, so good to have a break inbetween units ! LOL
DeleteGreat looking chaos bikers!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, wanted every one different to fit with the background on Chaos, where they are all individuals

ReplyDeleteNice looking lot. Noise Marines are scary buggers in the novels, such mobile ones... yikes.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dai, the novel’s have really shown what different troops are actually like, and as you say then making them quick to the area you want double trouble
DeleteAh yes, I remember the good old times when the Chaos Gods still had numbers: 8 for Khorne, 9 for Nurgle, ... I forgot the number that belonged to Tzeench.
ReplyDeleteThese bikes are simply awesome, love the subtle, not over the top pink.
Thank you Wouter, They had a lot more character back then in my opinion, with my noise marines I like to keep them dark with hints of pink and the normal troopers pink with black
