JUGGERNAUT

The big project I'd like to get done for this years challenge is one of the 3 forms of Imperial Juggernaut that have appeared in Star Wars over the years, below is a picture of the three different types, the top one appeared in Revenge of the Sith on Kashyyyk in the Republic army helping the Wookies, the middle version has appeared several times, in bad batch, Rogue One, and comics, the last one appears in the Mandalorian, and is my favourite one, but would need to be a scratch build, so was going to be option 1 or 2.

I managed to find a 3D print on Ebay which would give me a starting point, and also give me all the wheels I needed, the basic kit looks like this

If I went for option 2 I could use it for Bad Batch and the time before the Death Star, so this was the preferable option, here is a detail picture of what it should look like.

To get a look close enough, I need to make a lot of structural changes, to the basic shape, and a lot of detail additions to bring it closer, it's not going to be perfect, but close enough for me. Here's where I've got so far.

I've been working on it in two sections, as both are quite bulky, and heavy enough without combining the two and combining the weight issue ! LOL as you can see with the top section I've changed the basic shape, to bring it more in line with the reference, this was done with 1 mm thick plasticard to make it structurally sound, and putty to f ill in any small gaps, for the detail panels, I've made them with 0.5 mm plasticard so they don't protrude too far from the surface, and greenstuff for small details and handrails. The windscreens were made from acetate, that was painted black inside before being glued in place. Once I've finished the last few details on this side, I get to replicate them on the other side ! LOL
The undercarriage came with four shock absorbers printed on them, which I added detail to one, then took an instant mould of it, and push moulded all the rest including the two that hadn't fully printed, and the two additional absorbers. The two ends have been started including the door, but still a way to go to complete them.
That's all for today, hopefully it inspires for your own plans, so until next time, stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
