AS KEITH SAID

Recently on Keith's Monster May(hem) update, he said I'd done multiple Gnarloc riders, so I thought I'd better make that accurate as soon as possible. So today I have two more Gnarloc riders, the first one is armed with a Kroot Rifle and pistol, plus many blades he could choose from, I've varried the pattern on the Gnarloc as well.

The next one is armed with a grenade launcher, I also included a bit of smoke on the launcher to add to the effect, this was achieved with super gluing cotton wool around the grenade, then teasing it to the desired shape.

Below is a group shot of the three finished ones.

While I was at it, I've cleared the Kroot Hounds that were sat on my desk, from the Kill Team box, and the two small hounds from the Carnivore box, that I put on one base to count as a larger one, the larger ones, had additional equipment added to change the look of each one.

I've also finished sculpting option A of my Swamp Beast.

and already started option B

I've still got two more Gnarloc riders to finish before the end of the month to finish the squad. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  2. Gnarloc cavalry look very cool Dave. That Grenade launcher effect is especially good.

Love Kroothounds in general, so seeing a whole unit of them is pretty darn cool. Think the added equipment pieces gives them loads more visual interest.

    1. Thank you Dai, the grenade just poking out didn't look finished so added the effect to finish it off ! LOL
I preferred the older larger hounds, but wont let a model go to waste, so will add these to the shaper council, the equipment was to make them look different, as it's the same two hounds with the heads swapped ! LOL

  4. Did I mess up the number of gnarlocs, Dave? It's only because you always do way more than anyone else in every challenge! I love everything you've done for Monster May(hem) (and pretty much everything you do in general), including this swamp beast. If I could work the green stuff one-tenth as well as you, I'd be happy. Great work as always!

    1. Thank you Keith, not a problem as I was intending to get them done, just got me finishing them quicker to make your post accurate ! LOL The biggest thing with greenstuff is practice, and finding the perfect timing, as it's properties change slightly over time, like when first mixed super sticky, towards the end you get the best bends with increased elasticity.

    1. Thank you misterc, two more to go, and then I should be finished with Gnarloc's, unless I decide to increase the squad size ! LOL
I'm currently just planning the two options, but people could easily change the heads and arms around to get four variations.

  9. The Gnarloc's look great and are really impressive standing next to one another! You did a great job making each one look unique. The swamp beast looks like it walked straight out of a Lovecraft story as well! I suppose there have also been a couple in comics over the years too but either way, it looks great and I look forward to seeing how you paint it!

    1. Thank you Jeff, hopefully they should look super impressive when the last two are finished ! LOL It might be a while before the Swamp Beast is painted as my supplier is currently waiting for a restock of silicone to be able to mould it !
