DEADLIER THAN THE MALE

Today I have Ventris from Star Wars the Clone Wars, this character has a long and complex history, she started as part of the Night Sisters, and was traded while she was a child, her master was killed, and she was rescued and trained by a Jedi, who was later killed, and then trained by Count Dooku in the ways of the Sith, until he betrayed and tried to kill her. After attempting and failing to kill Dooku, she became a bounty hunter, and after the start of the Empire became a Jedi protector, so going full circle.

The model I got for my Birthday, and depicts her time as a Sith apprentice, I constructed it with the arms lower than shown on the official sight as it looked more natural to me.

Here is a reference picture.

So where was I last week, I was in Scotland, visiting places we both had wanted to go to. Our first stop was Loch Ness, where I didn't see the famous monster, but did visit it's visitors centre.

We then progressed to Edinburgh to visit the castle, and my wife went to the Christmas market, and on the journey home we stopped in York to visit the Viking museum, the other two monsters I hoped to see was the British Big Foot.

And the Wild Haggis, but no luck on either, but we had a good time none the less.

That's all for todays post, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you myincubliss, it was a bit of tricky one to match the reference.

  2. I didn't realize she had such a rich backstory but I've never been able to get into the animated Star Wars content so perhaps my ignorance should be expected. Ventris looks great and she's a wonderful addition to your extensive collection, Dave! Its a shame you didn't have any luck with cryptozoology but I'm glad that Scotland treated you well all the same.

    1. Thank you Jeff, they have continued adding to her story as recently as the Bad Batch, but there are rumors she will be appearing in a live action sometime soon. My Clone Wars era is actually quite small at the moment ! LOL we did have a great time, and was the first visit there for my wife.

  3. That's a cracking mini, gorgeous.

You might have done better exploring further afield, there are feral haggis in many of the more obscure glens.

    1. Thank you misterc, enjoyed painting her.
More time to explore would have been good, but enjoyed what we saw.

Nice work on Ventris, Dave - you've captured her likeness well! :-) Another character I like!
Glad you enjoyed Scotland - last time I was at Loch Ness was 1982 when me and one of my mates went touring Scotland on motorbikes!

    1. Thank you John, had to use several glazes to get her skin tone right, but was well worth the effort, she is such a strong and deep character, can fully understand liking the character.
I've been a couple of times before for work, and had visited the Wallace monument on one of those times, so was nice to take some time. Riding bikes up through that terrain would be great.

  6. How does Loc Ness own a visitor centre without being present at it? Maybe he is still working from home?

    1. Thank you Mr. Martin, was very pleased with the blue on the dress, her character has a lot of depth.
It was very beautiful, and watching the fog roll through a forest was something to see.

Pity that your monster hunting wasn't successful, but nonetheless seems like it was a fun trip!

    1. Thank you snapfit, she took almost as long as a unit of Kroot to get her to match ! LOL
Still had a great time, and chances of seeing a monster was always going to be low ! LOL

  10. Very nice work, Dave. Is that a Star Wars Legion or Shatterpoint miniature of Ventris, or perhaps a 3D print..? Either way you've done a splendid job on her.

    1. Thank you Simon, she is an official Legion scale model, I just positioned the arms slightly different from the official model as I didn't like the lightsabres above her head ! LOL

  11. She looks just like in the Clone Wars series, very nicely done mate. (Though my fav version is from the original 2D Tartakovsky Clone Wars series, I think the later one was done pretty well too.)

Were I ever to move back to the UK (Never happening, but hypothetically) I would move to Scotland, the Highlands specifically - near Aviemore or Boat-a-Garden. Just so pretty and calm. Well, at least it was 30 years ago when I last visited my grandparents there.

    1. Thank you Dai, remembered your favorite version was the original 2D, glad you like her. as her dress took several attempts ! LOL
Scotland is very picturesque, one time when I was driving through early in the morning I watched the fog roll through a forest, was amazing and wish I'd got a video of it, but back when mobile phones were just phones ! LOL
