FORGOTTEN HEROES 2025

So as normal for July it is time for Forgotten Heroes that is hosted by Jez at carrioncrowsbuffet for this year I'm aiming small, well small for me due to still struggling with my hand, I will add to my Star Wars project with the addition of Bo'mar Monk, if you don't know this character, it first appeared in "The Return of the Jedi", as the gate keeper in Jabba's Palace, it later appeared in the series book of Boba Fett, wandering around outside of the palace. this is what wookiepedia says about them :

"Zaril travelled to Tatooine… meeting with the B'omarr monks… members of a mysterious cult that removed their own brains so they could contemplate the mysteries of the universe without the distraction of a physical body."

―Thom Hudd[3]

The B'omarr Order,[4] which consisted of B'omarr monks, was a religious order that believed in isolating themselves from all physical sensation to enhance the power of their minds. To that aim, enlightened monks had their brains transplanted into nutrient-filled jars.[5] Whenever they wanted to move, those bottled-brains used spider-like droid walkers.[1] Older monks used four-legged walkers, but younger monks used a six-legged variant.[6]

The order possessed multiple regeneration gems, which at the time of Jabba the Hutt were stored underground behind triple doors.[7]

Here is what they look like

No doner model for this one, will have to be built from scratch, hopefully I can get this done by the end of the month, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you Simon, I occasionally mix it up with a comic book character, and had thought about doing Ron Pearlman's Hellboy, but as I am struggling so much with my hand, I went with the easier option ! LOL

  5. Wow, interesting challenge! I have the LEGO version of this one from the Jabba's Palace set, but I'm afraid it would hardly serve you as a reference... Good luck, I can't wait to see your work!

    1. Thank you Suber, saw the lego one when I was looking for reference pictures, I think the two tricky parts will be the legs and getting a clear dome.

    1. Thank you Iain, been meaning to do this one for a few years, and didn't want to give myself too easy a challenge if this is the only one I do this year ! LOL You would be a valued participant, as are all, and it will be running between the 1st of July and the 31st of August.

  10. The monks are an interesting inclusion in RotJ. Also strange that Jabba would suffer them to live in his home, considering they were oblivious of the world around them.

Regardless, I'm very interested to see your take on these things.

  11. Very interesting lore behind these guys, crazy how much information there is in Star Wars to cover such little screentime. Good luck with the challenge!

  13. Now these will fit right in at Jabba's Palace! I remember being a fairly young and impressionable kid reading about the monks in a collection of Star Wars short stories in the late 90's. Needless to say, the brains in a jar made an impression on me haha! I will be excited to see what you come up with for this one, Dave!

    1. Thank you Jeff, I never read a massive amount of the expanded universe, so my only real memory of the monk was the Return of the Jedi scene, until now where I needed to find the background for them ! LOL Think I've worked out how I'm going to do the jar, just need to mould a piece to get it started.
