Managed to get hold of some parts to make another medical landspeeder, this time I've done the second company one, meaning yellow trims. I've also been thinking what Iain said about making them more individual and added a couple of extra sections in white to what I'd done on the previous ones.
Here's the other two I'd already done for comparison.
This now means I need another three to complete this project within the project, but as I'm still trying to work out what I want the first company to look like it may take a while, have had the idea of using Grey Knights as they have a knight look to them, but will need to add a lot of detail. That's all for today, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Wow!! Those Speeders look absolutely awesome, Dave. Do they ever get to see much tabletop action these days, or are they a labour of love..?
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, they haven't got much table action lately, but this year hopefully the hobby room gets finished and I will have my gaming table back up all the time.
DeleteThat is a great concept to have a medical speeder. It only makes sense that they'd need one and I like the white marine. I think they're called Apothecaries but I might be wrong on that. Its been a while since I've cracked open a Space Marine codex, in my defense!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, the first one was made for the company that all ride speeders, then the idea expanded as you say every company would benefit from an air ambulance ! LOL You are indeed correct on the name.
DeleteAll three look excellent, that's going to be a mighty impressive group once you've finished it.
ReplyDeleteThank you misterc, probably won't all be on the table at the same time, unless I've got models from each company on the board ! LOL
DeleteI'm enjoying these enormously. The tiny details here and there add a lot of layers, I really like what you are doing here
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, trying to make each one individual is proving testing, but if it was easy everyone would do it ! LOL
DeleteVery nice work customising again, Dave! All three look the business. Have you thought of doing an old-school Apothecary Rhino to compliment the air wing? I do recall that double-page spread with Rhino Schemes which was such inspiration to my own first box of three back in the day! I can imagine how cool one could be with your flair for customisation. :D
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazael, as my chapter doesn't have ground based vehicles, I hadn't but a great idea, have been toying with the idea of a Stormraven for both apothecaries, and Tech Marines, so will have to see where that idea goes ! LOL
DeleteLooks really good. 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Stewart, just need to work out how to make the next three different ! LOL
DeleteExcellent work and love the extra detailing that I'm now feeling responsible for!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, glad you like the extra detailing, as it was a great call on your part.
Deletethese are so lush, Dave. Brilliant work
ReplyDeleteThank you Andy, I thought you would appreciate a good ambulance ! LOL
DeleteVery nice, Dave! :-) Nice to see a third one!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, only three more to go ! LOL
DeleteI love the small subtle differences between the two, makes them look good together and not like carbo copies. Are you keeping them on the different base sizes or does it really matter game-wise?
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, so far enjoying doing the subtle changes, and hopefully will continue with the last three, unless I run out of ideas ! LOL The bases will stay as they are, the two round bases are similar size, even if shaped differently, the large base is that speeder which is longer, needed the extra support, in gaming terms it will be harder for the big base, but I can live with that.
DeleteCool concept; well executed! As other have pointed out, lots of great little details help then to really stand out.
ReplyDeleteThank you DAM, all started with the fourth company one, as the entire companies mounted on speeders, but thought it would be cool for each company to have one, as it would give rapid aid to any fallen marine.
DeleteMedical speeders... Makes sense that there'd be something akin to stretcher bearers to bring horribly wounded Marines back away from frontlines and to the Medical facilities. And a fast "something" at that.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff mate.
Thank you Dai, that was my thinking too, and surprised GW never went down this route, but then it took them years before doing a scout speeder ! LOL
