No I haven't discovered Glam Rock ( I did that back in the 80's and 90's ! LOL) no I've finally converted up a squad of chaos sisters of battle, now before any one says that wouldn't happen, GW actually showed this back when they used to do their comic book Warhammer Monthly in the story Demonifuge with Ephral Stern. When I saw this there was limited models available and they were all metal, so cleaning off the Imperial symbols would have been very time consuming, so I stuck the idea to the back of my mind. Now the Sisters are plastic it would make the conversions a lot quicker and easier to do. Being Slaanesh I could have gone over the top with conversion being the God of Excess, but I decided to keep it minimal, and not perverted. The first 3 all have a flamer weapon including my aspiring champion, who has a Demonette head, the flamers hair comb also came off of a Demonette, and green stuffed onto the helmet, the horns on the heavy flamer, are just greenstuff, as are the flames on the shoulder pad and the skull on the other side (slowly trying to greenstuff again after the operation). On each of the robes I went for a different design to give each one a individual feel.
On the next three with bolters the top knot came off of a Demonette again, and the skull face mask was greenstuffed on, the robes also have different designs on them as well.
Am I turning this into a full army, no, I will be adding this to my Emperor's Children army, or possibly the Lost and the Damned section with the mutants and followers, which it would fit in better with, and it was nice to add a little something to that army, without going over board like I did with the Kroot ( plus it wasn't painting white either ! LOL). A huge thank you to my wife for getting these models for me for our anniversary. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Oh my!! Lovely work sir 👏
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal, nice to finally get this idea out of my head ! LOL
DeleteI got the magazine because of demonfuge, then I bought the book, gave away my sisters army (I wasnt going to paint it) but these are perfect from the book!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, I still have the monthly's and several of the stories in graphic novel form, and Demonifuge was one of my favourites, and Pariah which later tied in with Ephral's journey. I could have made he shoulder pads more pointy like the artwork, but was happy with the overall look.
DeleteThose are rather nice mate, never had any of the sisters of battle figures, but I did have the original two metal lady space marines from way back in the rogue trader days! They are long gone now though sadly. Cheers Roger.
ReplyDeleteThank you Roger, I remember those two models but never had them, did have a small metal SOB army, which I gave to a friend, when he had his army stolen at a gaming event. I believe GW are bringing back female space marines, though the heads I've seen look very butch.
DeleteNow those are some twisted sisters! There is a really nice chaos themed female bust on the market that I was planning on painting like a follower of Slaanesh and you've reminded me of that here. Its a really cool concept and I love to see what you came up with for these ladies!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, that sounds very cool, and I would like to do some more busts at some point. Had over 20 years to refine the ideas before I touched a model ! LOL
DeleteVery cool collection of corrupted conversions there Dave! They work very nicely with the subtle conversions and I espcially like the freehand on their cloaks. Great work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazael, I wanted a variety between them, so the freehand was the quickest and easiest way, rather than a lot of conversion work ! LOL
DeleteYou are not doing a full army of Twisted Sisters? Oh, we're not gonna take it!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, yes just a fun little distraction to finally get this idea out of my head ! LOL
DeleteAlways nice to see Slannesh that doesn't just go straight to BDSM or naked bodies, there's so much room to be creative in that space but that's all I ever see.
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, it is an easy trap to fall into as the small studded straps on the above models were put there by GW as loyal sisters ! LOL
DeleteCool idea matey and they make for a striking bunch of nasty gals. I think they'd fit perfectly into your cultists and mutants collection.
ReplyDeleteI feel like GW's current design for anything Slaanesh is a bit too PG13 restricted for a real tabletop representation for anything to do with the Chaos God of Excess. But then this hobby would be solely just for perverts and wierdos I guess if it actually did have the Giegeresque type design elements required.
Thank you Dai, they were a fun little project to do, and will add a good bit of variation to the cultists and mutants.
DeleteTo get a good balance would be hard, Raging Heroes have tried, and I'm not convinced it worked on their models either. These days I'm happy enough to just paint them pink and call them done ! LOL
If there is one thing I do not have it's an army with pink uniforms! Just as well, as I could never get them to look as good as these figures! The overall colour scheme and variation between them looks really good! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you John, painting pink has got easier with all the different shades available, rather than having to mix them ! LOL My Inlaws were very surprised to see that I had a predominately pink army too ! LOL
