I have finished all four options of the Dewback and rider, the first one is probably the most iconic with the rod and white shoulderpad, that appeared in the first Star Wars movie, before being remastered.
Next is a stormtrooper with another heavy weapon.
While I was doing these two, I also added the chipping that Jeff suggested on the inferno trooper, and the weathering.
This means that all three count for my PWYG challenge.
And as a final picture all four on patrol.
Great to get this unit finished, don't think I'll do any more unless atomic mass games release a different version, I tried to add some variation between them by changing some of the colours I used on the Dewbacks. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Well done they look like a very cohesive unit.
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil, was always one of my favourite creatures from the original movie, and really wanted more than one ! LOL
DeleteThese are great! Love ‘em.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stewart, really enjoyed doing them all.
DeleteI can hear their Dewback groans from here. So cool mate, really nicely done.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dai, at least you can't smell them ! LOL really pleased I've got one of each weapon loadout, even if they only get used in ones or twos, until I have a really big game.
DeleteI always enjoy your Star Wars posts. Dewbacks and stormtroopers takes me back a long time (to a gala... you know). Nice work with the variations on the troopers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Tarmor, I remember watching the original movie in the cinema, and wanting to know more of these strange lizard creatures I'd seen, nowadays they are common place ! LOL
DeleteSure enough, you couldn't go too long without getting the urge to work on something Star Wars :D The Dewbacks all look great and very impressive as a unit as well. Seeing dewbacks and stormtroopers makes me nostalgic for the Special Edition movies which was peak-Star Wars for me. I'm not saying those versions are the best but I was in elementary school when they came out and really into Star Wars at the time!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, there is pretty much always a Star Wars piece on my desk, it's just whether I have time to work on them ! LOL For me There are aspects of the extended editions I like, and other bits not so much, the new Dewbacks were a lot more animated, but lacked some of the detail of the original, thankfully now they seem to have got the balance right.
Deletethese came out really nice. great job!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr. Martin, always more Star Wars to come on this blog ! LOL
DeleteThey are fantastic, I love how you gave them all the same treatment, they look great
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, I wanted them to all have the same level of detail, but try to vary the tones so they were individual looking.
DeleteMarvellous. You've absolutely nailed the look.
ReplyDeleteThey represent, to me, one of the strengths of that first film, the sheer variety of species (and droids) and they felt no need to explain them, just accept them as part of the universe.
Thank you misterc, took a while to get right but happy with the recipe now.
DeleteIndeed there is always a wealth of life and scenery that they zip by, and concentrate on the story, not look at our great effects and backdrops (some modern sci-fi could learn lessons from this, I'm looking at you Dune ! LOL)
Excellent! Exactly as I remember them. Great paint work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dam, took a couple of tries but happy with the end result.
DeleteThe whole squad looks great! The chipping adds a lot to the model, gives it a story.
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, all Jeff's suggestion on that one, but it does add a lot of character.
DeleteGreat to see four of them now, Dave! The are really nice! :-) A dewback makes such a great "cavalry" mount!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, some may say four is excessive, but I like options ! LOL In the first movie I liked the Bantha's but with my love of lizards the Dewback was always going to be my favourite cavalry mount ! LOL
