HEAVY METAL

No I'm not claiming to be painting to the standard of White Dwarf but a squad of Robot Bikers completed. Some of these are from my range of Robot Bikers I sell, and 3 are from Mongoose's Kickstarter, that I have modified to fit the jetbikes from my range.

This first one is from Mongoose, when painting Robots I like to think of it's role first before choosing a colour scheme, this one I decided was a house robot, so gave it a mixed colour scheme that the householder may have chosen.

This next one I couldn't think of a role, but it did remind me of Maximillian form the film " The Black Hole" hence I gave him the name Max on his chest plate.

This is the last one from Mongoose, and I thought it was a garbage droid, so went with green like Ro-Jaws and then dirtied up the paint scheme, with washes.

This is the first of my set, and when I built it, I had the idea of a construction droid, with the flat area at the top for carrying materials around the site.

The next one is a Rescue droid, so went with a medical colour scheme, red and white.

This is my recycle droid, being environmentally conscious I thought recycling would be the better way to go.

This last one is a waiter droid, so went with a very simple colour scheme, almost like a waiter in a shirt and waistcoat. It's taken a long time for me to actually paint this model, as the original one for my display cabinet was painted by Lee Hebb, a very accomplished competition painter, and after seeing his excellent painting of this model, really didn't want to attempt it myself.

Above we have a group shot of all 7 models together. All these were finished on Friday and photographed, which was just as well, as my wife had to rush me to A&E on Saturday with fears I was having a stroke. This was not the case luckily, but I am suffering with Bell's Palsy, which is non life threatening, just means that half my face has gone on strike and doesn't move at all. The one drawback is it has thrown off my depth perception, so painting details is very hard at the moment, not to let it stop me, I've been working on a lot of basecoating and washes, to keep me busy, and started work on a piece of scenery as well. Hopefully I will be able to finish something soon, so until then Stay Safe and have fun !

LOOK SIR DROIDS !

No I haven't finished more robots, but rather a unit of Tatooine Stormtroopers, I got these at Christmas, and wanted to push the painting of them further than my early ones I did, this means at some stage I will probably revisit all the Stormtroopers I've already painted, but that will be a project for another time.

As you can see above I've painted the shoulder markings in black which is the designation for trooper, and one in white to designate a sergeant, in the movie " A New Hope" there was a lot with orange which is meant for Captain's, with such an important mission of finding the stolen plans of the Death Star, they may have felt compelled to play an active role in finding them.

Next up is General Veers, who was the officer responsible for blowing up the shield generator on Hoth, as you can see from the reference picture above I've tried to match his colour scheme.

Last up today is an Imperial Comms technician, I've based his colour scheme from the above reference picture.

Next time I should finally have the robot bikers finished to show you, as I've just got a couple of details left to do, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

DROP YOUR WEAPONS AND PREPARE TO BE JUDGED !

At the beginning of the challenge I said I wanted to complete some models based on characters from 2000 ad including some Judge Dredd models, now I'm still working on the robot bikers (really struggling on these at the moment !) I have got 6 Judge models finished, they all models from Mongoose Judge Dredd line, and the first 3 were a gift from my friends at Miniaturemen.

First is an SJS Judge, for anyone who doesn't know who they are, they are the Judges of the Judges, a futuristic version of Internal Affairs in the police.

Next we have Chief Judge Cal, also known as a bit of a madman and twisted the law to his own purposes, until finally killed by Fergie.

Next we have a Sov Block Judge, they reside in what used to be Russia.

The next 3 models came from Bryan Scott (Vampifan) when I went up to visit him, as he thought they would be great additions to my collection. The first one is a Med Judge, personally I think the pose on this model is a bit weird, like he's drunk or got the worst case of IBS on record ! LOL

Next we have a Jimp, now for anyone who has not read the comics, this is a Judge impersonator, some do it for gain, others because they feel justice is lacking in their area, whatever the reason, they don't seem to last long.

This last one is apparently a rare model according to Bryan, and to be honest I've not seen it listed anywhere, is a Space Judge. Finding a reference picture was impossible, so I went with a colour scheme that I thought was fitting/

Now I really need to get the bikers finished, unless I get distracted again ! LOL

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Firstly I'd like to wish you all a very happy new year, and let's hope 2022 we can return to some sense of normal.

The next set of models I have to show is some HK assassin droids, now I didn't know much about these ( I know weird Dave doesn't know something about Star Wars ! LOL) so I did a quick search on Wookiepedia and found this

The HK-series assassin droid, also known as the HK series protocol droid, was a series of combination of assassin droids and protocol droids. The series designation stands for "Hunter Killer," befitting their primary functions as assassins. They were originally manufactured by Czerka Corporation,[1] then eventually by the Confederacy of Independent Systems.[2] Their ability to perform the functions of a protocol droid became a major reason for their unmatched lethality, as they could and would often act as normal (if quite sinister looking) protocol droids, thus concealing their true function and allowing them to get closer to intended targets.

If you wish to read the full article you can find it starwars.fandom HK-series assassin droid

So a image google search found some colour schemes that I found interesting, and here are the results.

First is HK-47 I thought the rusty approach was interesting, and was a relatively quick scheme to do.

Next is HK-50 this was an easy scheme to do using a really thin blue glaze to get the right tone.

Next is HK-51 this one had a lot more detail on it with all the markings, and was very fitting for the Empire being a lot of white.

The last one is HK-55 I really liked the dark grey and gold combination.

And a group shot to finish off.

Still working on my robot bikers for Judge Dredd, so will hopefully have those finished soon, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

IT'S ALL WHITE NOW

Now I'm not talking about the weather, as we haven't seen a single flake of snow down here, but certain officers of the Empire from Star Wars.

First is Director Krennic, as seen in the film Rogue One, and is now known as the driving force on the construction of the Death Star.

Totally enjoyed the painting of this one, and matching him up to the reference picture above.

Next is Grand Admiral Thrawn, this master tactician was defeated by Ezra Bridger, in Star Wars Rebels, but has been mentioned in season 2 of the Mandolorian, and is rumoured to be making a live action appearance in the upcoming series Ahsoka.

Painting wise I've tried to match the above reference picture, and think he's come out quite well.

So these are my first two entries, for paint what you got challenge, there well be more Star Wars models coming up for this challenge, and I'm currently working away on 7 bikers for Judge Dredd, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

WAMP RATS ROASTING ON A OPEN FIRE

A long time ago I showed a Sand people female and child I sculpted, then the project got completely forgotten about during my move. I cleared through a box the other day and found them again, so thought why not get them painted, and while I was at it, made another 3 and got them painted too.

Above is a scenic group shot to get the atmosphere going.

Above is the first Female I made, and is quite a basic pose, and based on the above reference picture.

This was the child I made and the reference picture it's based on.

This one was based on the above toy that was released with a child in a papoose .

These last two were based on the above screen shot from episode 2 " Attack of the Clones"

That's all for this post, and just leaves me to say I hope you all have a great holiday season, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
