IT'S ALL WHITE NOW

Now I'm not talking about the weather, as we haven't seen a single flake of snow down here, but certain officers of the Empire from Star Wars.

First is Director Krennic, as seen in the film Rogue One, and is now known as the driving force on the construction of the Death Star.

Totally enjoyed the painting of this one, and matching him up to the reference picture above.

Next is Grand Admiral Thrawn, this master tactician was defeated by Ezra Bridger, in Star Wars Rebels, but has been mentioned in season 2 of the Mandolorian, and is rumoured to be making a live action appearance in the upcoming series Ahsoka.

Painting wise I've tried to match the above reference picture, and think he's come out quite well.

So these are my first two entries, for paint what you got challenge, there well be more Star Wars models coming up for this challenge, and I'm currently working away on 7 bikers for Judge Dredd, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

Very nice, Dave! :-) I actually know who they were as well! Here's hoping they can do credit to Ahsoka in the upcoming series - I think she's one of the better characters from the genre!

    1. Thank you John, glad I could show some that you knew. I think Rosario Dawson did a good job on her first outing as Ahsoka, and hope that the series adds to the depth of the character, as she has gone through so much in the animated series.

  2. Very nice! Krennick was a great character and yours looks like a good representation of him.

Thrawn to me will always be the character from the original post-RotJ novels by Timothy Zahn. I liked the animated version, but he seemed more soft in comparison I think.

Very cool to see these iconic officers in your typically well painted schemes sir!

    1. Thank you Dai, Krennick was a perfect character to hate in the movie, I thought.
I thought they got his calculated intellect right, just not enough of his homicidal rage in the series, and hopefully they can build on that in his next outing.
Tried to push the clean look on these, as you only saw them in pristine condition, in their appearences.

  3. Great job on both figures, Dave! I've never seen the animated shows, but Krennick in Rogue One was a great character. His demise was especially ironic LOL

    1. Thank you Matt, Krennic being killed by the Death Star was very ironic, or just Grand Moff Tarkin eliminating the competition ! LOL

  4. Krennic is my favorite Star Wars villain of all time so I'm thrilled to see you paint him up. I think you did Ben Mendelsohn credit as well :) I do wonder if we'll see Thrawn in some kind of Star Wars movie or show soon. He's always been animated to the best of my knowledge but I think technology has progressed enough that he can be convincingly captured on the big screen now.

    1. Thank you Jeff, he was a very strong character, so glad I could do him justice, the touch of grey hair was a little challenging ! LOL
From the information so far on the Ahsoka series Thrawn is who she's hunting, how long before we see him could be another matter, but we can hope, there is a rumour at the moment, that we may even be getting live action versions of the Star Wars Rebels crew as well !

    1. Thank you Frank, the fact I've been unable to sleep much this week, probably helped with the output ! LOL Don't forget we all work at different speeds, and never judge by what someone else does, as we are all individuals mate.

    1. Thank you Suber, the cloak on Krennic took extra work, as it looked patchy, so a couple of white glazes, made it look more natural.

  8. Lovely work on both Dave (though I only know the human character, I'm afraid), I'll start work on my "paint what you've got" figures on the first, will probably start with the Advent Challenge fig's for the month.

Oh and I used to love Spam and tomato Sause on sandwiches as a kid, hope this doesn't get my comment removed 😁.

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, hopefully you'll learn all about Thrawn when Ahsoka the series comes out. Look forward to seeing what models you've got for the challenge from the calendar.

  10. Terrific work on the Whites in particular, Dave. I always thought Director Krennic was badly underused in the movie, and would certainly have liked to learn more about him - perhaps the TV series based upon Cassian Andor's adventures might reveal more..? Big fan of Thrawn from the books, and you've definitely done him justice too. Looking forward to the JD bikers :-)

    1. Thank you Simon, They certainly could have done more with him, but with so many series being done, we never know who may turn up and be utilised. I am hoping Thrawn gets a live action role in at least one of the series, and develops up his character more.

  12. White is such a pain to paint and make it look 'right', but you've done an excellent job getting the right feel to this character. (I hate having to do black too).

    1. Thank you Joe, have tried many recipes for white over the years, but happy with this current one, black can be a pain and end up looking very chalky, it also depends, on painting cloth leather, and reflective metals.
