FROM FLEDGLING TO SPEEDER

 Progress on Ben's house has been a little slow this weekend due to a technical problem on the website, but over the last week I have made some progress on some of my Nighthawks.

First up is two Fledgling squads that I had done to tournament finish, but wanted to bring them up to the same standard as the rest of the army, I have a mix of new style scouts and old models as well, including some of the Space Wolves scouts as well.

Next up is a jetbike I showed on the old blog, which I finally finished detailing. 

I have since taken a mould and started making up the many I need to make the whole company.

Finally today I have a squadron of Landspeeder Typhoon's, I've painted one up as a Sargent to add a bit more character to the squadron.

Still haven't come up with a new for this company that are all mounted on speeders, if any one has any suggestions please feel free to leave them in the comments.

The names I have so far are 1 st Company Wing Knights (All Jump Packers), 2 nd Company Screaming Eagles ( all jet bikers), 3 rd Company Storm Bringers ( all Devastators) 4 th Company ? ( all on speeders), 5 th Company ? ( reserve company mix of jump packers and devastators) 6 th Company Fledglings ( scouts).

OFF TO A FOAMY START

 Have made some progress on the start of Ben's house. Found I didn't have any wood the right thickness to make the base, but had a piece of 1.5 mm plasticard that was almost perfectly sized for the base so used that instead. Before putting the outside walls on, I set about making the raised floors needed, and steps, pillars ans set tables. Once these were all dry, i then stuck on the outer walls, you will notice that I've stuck on a thin blue layer to the walls, this is to sand in the bevels on the outer walls as the blue foam is quicker to sand than the dark grey. There is some filler work to do in some places before adding the texture to all the internals and exterior walls. I have increased the space to allow for models and there bases to be able to move around properly.

I've purposely left the front wall off to aid in play ability and will connect it to the roof to remove as a single piece. I have started the front wall by first making the door in plasticard, and a sleeve for it also in plasticard so the door will slide open. Once this was dry I stuck it into a cutout in the wall, and then thinned down the cutout, and stuck that on top to bring the wall back to the right thickness.

So this is as far as I've got so far, next is a lot of sanding then textures, then the huge task of all the details, which  is probably the most interesting part. I have found an actual photo of the interior which will hopefully help with some of this. If you have any questions about any part of this build, please feel free to ask.

HE'S JUST A CRAZY OLD MAN

 Got another addition for my Star Wars project finished, old Ben Kenobi, as what Tatooine game would be complete without this hermit.

The model is standard except for his clear lightsabre, I've kept the tones closer between the base, mid and highlight for a more natural tone.

Finishing this has prompted my next scenery project his dwelling, found a good reference shot on the internet, now just need to start building.

This last bit is the missing pictures from the community roundup as I hadn't realised Azazel had three more posts to put  up for his entries, so here they are a Stone juggernaut, more plasma conduits, and a mix of terrain crate parts.

SCENERY CHALLENGE COMMUNITY ROUNDUP 2020

 As the dust starts to settle the first year of the scenery challenge is now over, I have been impressed at the amount and variety that everyone has produced, and would like to thank everyone that has taken part, and even expressed an interest but wasn't able to finish anything in time, as we all know time can dissapear quickly !

azazelx Azazel used the challenge to complete his crashed Aquilla, underground entrance hatch, dug in tank hull, traffic pylons, Gorkamorka junk piles, Thermic plasma conduits, battlefield pikes, Alchomite stack machinery, trap tiles, barriers, mantic terrain crate bits, stone bridge, outpost vents, observation platform, rocky outcrops, urban scatter terrain, and stairs.

pmpainting Matt didn't quite get his cottage finished, but what he had done was looking great, and house moving can easily stop play !

angrypiper Keith managed to finish a great looking sump pool.

fantorical Simon managed to get some bits for his Adeptus Titanicus scenery finished

tarmor got some great pillars done

onelover-ray Ray did a whole camp.

justneedsvarnish John has done a Church and graveyard, now you may say he wasn't on the list, but as John said he didn't know he was going to do the challenge until it was finished ! LOL

I feel it was a success this year and will make it a yearly event, but to cover both the northern and southern hemisphere it will be known as the the Season of Scenery challenge, or S.O.S. for short
