WHAT'S IN A NAME

Today I get really close to finishing the denizens of Jabba's Palace, with three really obscure characters, the first one is so obscure he doesn't even have a name. He appears for two seconds after Han is taken away after being set free from the Carbonite, before Leia is thrust towards Jabba.

The model started as legs and torso from a plastic zombie, lengthened, and arms and head from Legion spares. The next model started with a search for Jabba's bartender, which was the only information I had to start with, I then found the designation was R2-S4M, which gave me the colors needed, the model is a standard Legion R2 model, with tray and servo arm added by me.

Last today could be confused with a creature, but with a bit of looking I found it's actually a sentient being called a Sic Sic, now if you've never seen it in the movie, you're not alone, it must be hid under a table, behind a group or something ! LOL

Here is a group shot for scale reference

The only thing I have left to do for Jabba's Palace is the B'omarr Monk that I started last year, but never finished. Now I just need to find a new section of the Galaxy, to obsess over and recreate models for all of them, suggestions on a postcard !( don't forget needs to be on Tatooine ! LOL) That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  2. Wow, you really left the most obscure for last on these projects, eh? Fun though and nicely executed on the three here. (Sicsic is another I'd never even read about much less noticed in the film.)

    1. Thank you Dai, I knew of the human from watching the film, but was difficult to find anything with no name ! LOL I found the Sicsic, while on a random search, and he even has a mention in Wookiepedia ! LOL

  3. Its Jeff again. Still not logged in but hopefully will be next time around. This is more fantastic work, Dave. I am familiar with the last guy only because I remember seeing the action figure of him. Its definitely a strange and somewhat half-baked design!

In terms of things I'd like to see, I think the interior of a Sandcrawler would be a really cool project, especially if you're still focusing on the planet with twin suns!

    1. Thank you Jeff, if you think Sicsic was half baked, you should see lightbulb man, that was so bad I refused to make him ! LOL
I do have plans for a Sandcrawler, but will probably save that for Season of Scenery.

  4. Great stuff. I particularly like the bartender, but it's all excellent.

I'm not personally a huge fan of the prequels, but how about the pod racing garage? Lots stuff ther.

    1. Thank you misterc, he was the quickest one to do, as it was just the tray and arm required.
Good call, as they have some very unique aliens in that group.

    1. Thank you Suber, haven't started the PHD still trying to finish the masters ! LOL A lot of time searching the internet, and then finding one bit, and following each rabbit hole, and see what each one yields is the key ! LOL

  6. Wow crazy you’re almost done. There is Book of Boba Fett which I’m sure added even more characters to Jabba’s Palace once Boba took over.

    1. Thank you SD, when I started these side projects within the Star Wars realm, never actually thought about getting to the end ! LOL
Good call, as I've been eyeing lot's of potential subjects from that series, both citizens for the towns, and new faction the Mods.

  7. These are awesome, Dave! Crazy to think you've almost gotten to the end of so many of these. I'd second Book of Boba if you want to keep it Tattooine-based as there are some good looking characters in that series, despite it's (many!) flaws.
I'd love to see some full-cast layouts of the Cantina and Jabba's Palace when you have time (I know how long it takes to set these things out - no small undertaking in itself!)

    1. Thank you Azazael, Indeed it seems strange to reach the end of such a large side project, but it has taken multiple years ! LOL Good shout on Book of Boba Fett for characters and towns folk.
As soon as they are all unpacked from the renovations, I promise to take some group shots, for all that have asked.

    2. Obviously you should do your own preference, but I'd love to see the interesting characters from Boba but then some of the other ones that fit from other locations that are Tattooine-compatable in the same way that Nevarro is. Legion has a fair few of the Boba series related figures in some description as well!

    3. For Forgotten Heroes this year I'm planning to do Black Krrsantan, and Gunji, and if I get time maybe some of the Mods, and then I'll keep diping back in and out of all the fantastic suggestions from everyone.

No, I think you're well on your way to the PhD, Dave! :-) I do like the droid! Jabba's barge thingy would make a good setting!
