As scenery is now part of the Apocalypse Me challenge, I thought I'd use this opportunity to add to my scenery range, as Salute isn't far away, and having more new scenery wouldn't be a bad thing.
The first piece I've created is the first of 3 dome tents, this one is closed, the other two I want to do will be open with internal details. I will be casting these with a core to keep the weight down, and also the price.
What camp site wouldn't be complete without a camp fire, I shall be casting these in translucent yellow, to make painting the flame element easier.
Both are now sat in mould boxes, ready to make the moulds, as is some bits that Roger has been waiting for !
This is actually my 300 th post, although 121 of those were originally posted on another blog, and this little blog of mine has now had 50,000 visits, a huge thank you to all who visit, and to all your comments over the years.
That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Salute, rather you than me!
ReplyDeleteWill be the first show I've been to in over two years now, so hopefully will go well, but won't know until I try Simon.
DeleteOoohhh... new scenery. Very nice Dave, and my best wishes for you at Salute. I would hope it would be packed full of customers for you to tempt.
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, I'm hoping there is a good attendance, but no way of knowing until the day ! LOL
DeleteLove the dome tent, that is a smashing piece, great detail on the zips! Good luck at Salute, I don't think I'll be attempting a show visit (be it wargaming, comic, theatre or concert), till early/mid next year at the earliest, but of course it's not my livelihood. so I really do wish you the very best, stay safe mate.
ReplyDeleteOh and sorry I wont be replying to this post till tomorrow as I'm watching Blakes 7 on forces TV at the moment!!! 😛😜
Cheers Roger.
Blake's Seven. Excellent stuff Roger. Which episodes are you watching..? I tend to re-watch the opening season myself, as its my fave by far. But there's some corking later stories too.
DeleteThank you Roger, hoping to really wow with the two open ones, but did have fun with the details on this one. Can fully understand holding off on shows, but need to attend to keep my spot at Salute.
DeleteBlake's 7 you say, never heard of it ! LOL
He's watching season 2 Simon.
Episode 6 to be exact, if you don't get a move on Dave the Liberator will be destroyed before you even get your's out! 😉
DeleteI know mate, I watched it too ! LOL They are all sat in the mould boxes, and in silicone, should hopefully have the first cast done tomorrow.
DeleteNice bits of scenery there Dave! :-) Are you going to try for a ripped/slashed version of the tent, a sort of before and after the zombies get there? Hope Salute goes well for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, one of the version will involve a zombie, but will reveal more once it's done ! LOL
DeleteI'm hoping so to John ! LOL
Nice work Dave, are going to Salute as a trader or a visitor? Either way enjoy 😊
ReplyDeleteThank you Frank, will be at Salute as a trader, so hopefully there will be enough customers to make it worth while ! LOL
DeleteBeatuiful model, you really are a very talented chap. I would think that you could mold them in two pieces, sepearating the frams from the base? (but what do I know).
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, I try ! LOL The first one shown above will actually provide the core for the open ones, and like you mention there will be a separate base for the internal, I've almost finished the first one.
DeleteThe tent looks excellent, Dave, and ready to be ripped to shreds by some eldritch horror LOL!
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, can't say I'd want to use a tent during a zombie apocalypse, and would rather have a solid structure ! LOL
DeleteLiking the new sculpts! Not seen a dime tent out there so I think you should do really well adding those to your inventory mate!
ReplyDeleteGood luck at Salute!
Thank you Dai, been meaning to do this for ages, just got too distracted with my Star Wars project ! LOL Hope it will be worth it mate !
DeleteGreat looking tent! Good luck with Salute, I would be going but it's of the few Saturdays I have to work, a bit disappointing!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain

Congrats on 300 posts! That's awesome! I'm looking for my Apocalypse submission miniature, but I can't find the damn thing. It'll turn up somewhere!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I also like your blog and hope that it has a rapid increase in traffic density!
Thank you Keith, Hope you find the model you're looking for, I'm still trying to find some from my move, and that was over 2 years ago ! LOL
DeleteCheers mate, of all the spam comments I've received over the years it is most definitely, the politest and most complimentary ! LOL
Congrats on your blogging milestones! Those are both impressive feats. I always like to see something that can be used for post-apocalyptic terrain so I'm impressed by what you're working on too!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, I was shocked at how quick they came around ! LOL Do like doing scenery for post apocalyptic, so there will probably be more in the future.
DeleteGreat sculpts, Dave - and congrats on 50k visitors as well! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazel, enjoyed doing them, and was surprised when I hit the 50K
