Yes I have indeed finished Jabba's throne room ! Felt like I'd never see the end of this project at some points, but got there in the end.
Above are a couple of shots of the whole set up with all the sections sat in place.
Last time I mentioned there were a few details needed around Jabba's dais the first one was this weird vent on the wall at the back, after watching the scene for far too many times I spotted this bit, and thought I better add it for completeness.
Another piece I needed was Jabba's frog snack bowl, to make this I made a template out of greenstuff and plastic rod, then took a instant mould of it, I also made a frog to fit in the bowl, then I poured some translucent green resin into the bowl with the frog in it. once I fitted the securing ring and painted that bit. I coated the resin bowl with gloss varnish to give it a suitable shine.
Above are a couple more scenic shots with figures in place, including one of the creatures I made for Monster May(hem) this year.
Don't know what I'll work on next, so it will be a surprise for you and me alike ! LOL So until next time stay safe and have fun !

Thank you Dai, some of the details can seem pointless, but I think they add the needed character to the piece.
DeleteWill probably get used more for the roleplaying element, than battles, but who knows a battle for the throne room good be an interesting scenario.

ReplyDeleteThank you Ivor, glad you liked all the details, definitely made as a gaming piece, otherwise I'd have made extra models to represent the relevant poses from the scenes and stuck them in, also the reason for making so many of the sections removable was so I could take pictures during games.
DeleteWow, quite a project. A lot to like here and congratulations on getting it done. Besides Star Wars, I could see using this diorama in a variety of games. I very much favor the gargoyles--I like gargoyles in general but I think yours are are nice; I like that you put some drip mark details running off of them and gave them some oxide too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann, your right it could easily be used for a multiple of settings, and gaming systems. I'd never have guessed you liked gargoyles ! LOL The oxide marks and dripping were in the film version, so would be rude to miss them out .

ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, was a labour of love, the were some bits from the film that I left out for practicality as they would have got in the way and stopped you being able to use all the space, but a small sacrifice to make it a playable piece.

I hope that many Star Wars fans are able to see this project because I think it will bring them joy just as it has for me every time I see one of your updates.
