Next are two aliens from Jabba's Palace, both were riding the Skiff's on the ride to the Sarlacc pit, I got these at Xmas the one on the left is Kithaba which I converted from the standard model of Barada on the right, both models are WOTC and had repaints
Last up today is a Bantha, which is my finl entry for Monster May, was hoping to have a herd of these done but the workshop took way longer than I hoped ! this is a cast from the scratchbuilt model I made a while back.
That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Great "Star Wars" themed post, Dave. I'm a huge fan of Nien Nunb, so its great to see him getting some love in your posting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, definitely wanted to include Nien Nunb as he was a great character in my opinion, and added to the mainly human element that made up the resistance that you'd seen up until ROTJ
DeleteAlways good to see a Star Wars post from you Dave, lovely work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael, if I could most posts would be Star Wars related, but it's finding the relevant models at the moment that I'm finding difficult. Guess I'm going to have to start making some more ! LOL
DeleteReally nice work Dave as always, great rendition of the Bantha, a herd of them would look pretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love that picture of Kithaba, he looks like one of his family said to him "stand there while I get a picture, and smile your supposed to be on holiday!!"
Cheers Roger.
Oops I think the one I mean is in fact Barada.
ReplyDeleteThank you Roger, I have another 6 Bantha's cast just got to make the horns, won't take long to paint.
DeleteI think pretty much both look like that ! LOL iy is a very static pose on both, but that makes it easy for casting i suppose !
Great looking star wars post, the Bantha is awesome!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, contemplating building a Blurg next while I still have a few denizens for the cantina and Jabba's palace as well, and there's still a few robot types I need to find or make as well, the project that keeps on giving ! LOL
DeleteGreat work as always, Dave...both on the painting and (of course) on the sculpting. Nice Bantha. I always feel bad when I think of the puppeteers that had to operate those things in the desert heat...Thanks for supporting Monster May(hem). See you next month at Jeremy's place for Forgotten Heroes!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith, and for letting me take part in your excellent event, will definitely be keeping up with your blog from now on as I've enjoyed all your posts I've read. Looking forward to Forgotten Heroes next month, and hoping to run a scenery one over July and August if your interested in taking part

ReplyDeleteGreat figures and a very effective representation of the various characters.
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, I do like to have the relevant looking models for my Star Wars project, where as other projects are open to interpretation ! LOL
DeleteGreat looking models Dave, its odd when you think of the amount of work that would have gone into the guys for the barge that would only be a couple of minutes in the movie.
ReplyDeleteThank you Frank, your not wrong especially the second skiff where the prisoners weren't, as they were only ever background shots and only for a few seconds at a time. finding detailed pictures of them was a lot harder
DeleteVery nice work, Dave. I especially like the Bantha. How many parts does this model come in? You mention bodies and horns, so are the horns separate? Curious to know if these will be available from WTW and,if so, what tweaks you'll make to circumvent IP.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jez, the Bantha is a single piece casting, with no horns, as I wanted to make each set to add variation, so all the horns are custom. Funny you ask about selling them through WTW as I was toying with the idea of selling them as Desert Yaks with a totally different set of horns, then if people wanted to make them into Banthas they would only have to make a set of horns
DeleteWell done! I'm afraid to paint Star Wars because I have to match a photo, and don't think i can manage. You've crushed.
ReplyDeleteThank you Eltee Harry, was glad I took a colour theory course a couple of years back, makes matching the colours a lot easier, but it's always worth giving it a try and pushing yourself, after all we can always strip a model and try again
DeleteNien was a fav of mine as a kid. Yours looks great. I think I too have that sculpt...
ReplyDeleteBut the star of this post is that bantha! Lovely sculpt and paint job is bang on!
Thank you Dai, was glad I found him, makes one less to sculpt as I really wanted him in game.
DeleteJust wish I’d got a few more done, but it will come in time
Nice duo of ruffians, I never took such a close look at these.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to do a whole herd of banthas like in the bottom picture?
Thank you Wouter, it's difficult to notice them in the movies as you only see them for a few seconds or in the distance, so lots of Google searches needed ! LOL
DeleteThat's the intention to have a whole heard of them, I've got seven cast so far including this painted one
