SPACE ANOTHER FRONTIER

recently on one of my posts, Dai mentioned about running a campaign with the armies I had for 40K, and I mentioned that wasn't a bad idea as I had gothic fleets for all but one as well.

So I went looking for my fleets and found I'd only really done test pieces on each, so hadn't got very far at all, and decided it was about time to remedy this, and decided to do my transport ships first, I wasn't happy with the test colour so have painted all of these this week.

These are basic transport ships, they have very little armament but substantial engines to make them quick.

The second batch look to be a type of silo carrier, again little in the way of weapons for defence but a good bank of engines.

This last bunch were made by Forgeworld as tankers, the standard configuration are the two in the middle, but I thought it would be cool to have a quick single tank and also a super tanker as well. Out of all the transport vessels these are my favourite, and look to be equipped with missile launchers in the prow, or that's at least what I'm going to play them as.

These will all count towards Ann's neglected model challenge this month, as I've had these models for far too many years ! LOL

I haven't forgotten about the challenge roundup, that should be my next post, as I wanted to make sure I had all the entries, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Nikto Green

Having only the humans left to do for the cantina, I've moved on to finishing the aliens from Jabba's palace, and the first two are Nikto

The Kadas'sa'Nikto, also known as the green Nikto, were a subspecies of the sentient humanoid Nikto species from the planet Kintan. Like their cousins the Kajain'sa'Nikto, they had scaly skin, black eyes, and symmetrical horns.

Above is an excerpt from Wookiepedia on these aliens, now in "Return of the Jedi" we actually see four of these creatures, some are harder to spot than others, here are the two that are easiest to spot.

The first one we see is Wooof, who can be seen trying to grab Luke when he confronts Jabba.

The second one I have today is Klaatu, who is most prominent in fighting Luke on top of Jabba's barge.

I have started the next two, but they still need a lot of work, and will show them as soon as there finished.

I'm also going to take part in Ann's Neglected models challenge  this month, and hopefully I might actually finish the unit of Landspeeders I failed to complete for my challenge, and maybe a surprise or two from my mountain of unpainted.

That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

FEMBRUARY CHALLENGE ROUNDUP

As I agreed to take part in Alex's Fembuary Challenge and have shown a few bits already, I'm showing the completion in one post.

First up is the completion of My Female Pinhead, based off the cosplay I showed in my first post for this, she is armed with a stinger pistol, and a venom blade, a cheap combination points wise, as she also carries a webway portal, to bring my Homunculus Ancient onto the gaming board with it's unit of Grotesques, a very nasty combination.

Also completed the female Cenobite from the first two movies, she is armed with a liquifier gun, and agoniser.

As this has been a bit of a week of distractions ( see my last post) I ended up wanting to create a pet for each of the  Homunculus, so created these three based off creatures seen in the movies, the one on the left is the Chatterer Dog seen in Hellraiser 4 Bloodlines, the centre creature is the torso seen in Hellraiser 5 Inferno, and the creature on the right is the tunnel dweller seen in the first two movies.

Here is the complete line up with pets, to make it nice and easy for Alex.

In gaming terms of 40K the creatures would mean nothing but as I intend using my own rules and lists at home, it's not a problem. To complete this faction of my Dark Eldar army I only have 3 Grotesques left to build and paint, so very happy about that.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

One of the really cool thing's about working in this industry, is the opportunity to work with some really great people on some fun projects. when I worked with Minaturemen on their two kickstarters for a range of Cowboy Orcs and dwarf's this was some of those projects.

I met Gary and Alison at a game show in Gloucester, and we got talking about this project, we all agreed I'd do a test piece, and then see if we progressed further, well all parties were happy with the result and the project progressed. Eventually they had 7 Orc cowboys and also a mounted version of each mounted on Bison, we also came up with a set of Orc heads, a set of Orc weapons, and a pair of Goblin undertakers.

Da Bros Gwimm town undertakers and my favourite sculpt from the first project

The next Kickstarter had some more Orc's and some more Goblins and a whole range of Dwarves, Gary also did some sculpting for this project including some dead Orc's some Humans, and a couple more Orc's.

Now recently I have been chatting to Luke ( IRO ) on his Blog and via email about these models and it reminded me that I hadn't got round to painting my favourite from the second release, the Town Drunk

A bit of a cheeky pic

This model was fun to build originally and I got to to add in so many fun elements, like the bum flap on his long johns flapping in the breeze, the fact he's lost a boot ( or just forgot to put it on) or the fact that he's completely missed the holster with his pistol, and snagged it in his long johns.

I used this model to practise more with painting with glazes, and also to push myself on doing better bottles.

Before you go rushing over to their site to find more of their goodies, they are currently closed, but will be reopening when this Lockdown finishes.

That's all for this quick post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

TWO SPACEMEN WALK INTO A BAR ON THE MOON

Well this place lacks atmosphere !

This will be my final post on the denizens of the cantina for a while as all I have left to do are some humans, and I'm going to have a break from this area for a while. I do intend to build the cantina itself, but will probably save the bulk of that for this years season of scenery challenge.

First up today is the final two spacemen needed to complete the set of four, to save a bit of time I built one body, took a mould, and cast up the second one I needed and then sculpted both sets of arms. The painting was a very simple scheme to keep in with the original source, but did find a new use for the white contrast paint, as a first highlight on the black visor.

Next up is Chall Bekan, which I showed the similar one in a previous post.

Finally today is Zutton, who is of the same species as Takeel ( also known as snaggletooth to anyone who had the original Palitoy/Kenner action figure) unlike Takeel he was full height and also had a hunchback. This was a complete sculpt as didn't have anything suitable to base him on.

That's all for today, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

I HAVE SUCH SIGHTS TO SHOW YOU

I have completed my first entry for Alex's Fembruary Challenge with the first of my Haemonculus / Cenobite model the lady Angelique, she is armed with a Hex Rifle, and Electrocorrosive whip, which came from the Wrack plastic box set.

While I've been working on these models, I've also managed to finish another 3 Grotesque models, again using spare parts from the Talos kit, and even some blades from the Raider kit.

This model I've made as an Aberration, which is the squad leader for the unit, and equipped it with a venom blade, and used parts to make it look more armoured and have bits fitting his position.

Here is a group shot of all 7 I've got for the unit now.

That's all for this time, next time will probably be more challenge models, either mine or Alex's, so until then stay safe and have fun !

FEMBRUARY CHALLENGE

Now as many of you know Alex over at leadballoony runs a challenge in February to paint up a female model, even though I'm busy working on bits for my own challenge, I thought it would be good to show my support for a fellow bloggers challenge.

My plan is to build and paint the three Haemonculus for my Dark Eldar army. I've always felt that the concept reminded me of the Cenobites from Hellraiser, and wanted to base them on three female cenobites from the films.

The first one is based off a cosplay of Pinhead, as seen in the above picture, now as you may know Pinhead was male in the last 10 movies, but there are rumours that the reboot is going to have a female Pinhead instead, so I used this cosplay for now.

The bases for this model was some 1st edition Dark Eldar plastics, that I thinned down to allow me to add greenstuff to it without making it look too bulky.

The next one I choose to base my model upon, was the demon Angelique that Pinhead turned into a Cenobite in Hellraiser 4 Bloodlines.

I used plastics again as the basis before starting to add the costume in with greenstuff, I have changed the skirt from the reference picture to allow more movement.

The last reference I chose was the female Cenobite from the first two movies, she was never given a name but the fans nicknamed her Deepthroat.

Here you can see the basic plastic before I start to add all the details.

That's all for this post, as I now need to get a move on with all the bits I've said I will finish by the end of the month, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
