Continuing on with this years challenge, I am happy to say, I didn't fail this year as I have completed Sabbat, painting wise I went with the first reference picture apart from the shoulder pads I went with bone as shown in the second reference picture. Painting wise the longest part was painting all the faces of the cloak, and each took the same amount of time as a normal face on a model ! LOL
While I was waiting for paint to dry I got the sculpting done on Spikes as well, I decided to give him a shotgun, this will mean I have Dredd, Tweak, and Spikes, I can also cover the other Judges needed with what I already have in my painted models, I just need the 3 robots and proper sized Landraider, and then some of their opponents, to be able to game the crossing of the Cursed Earth storyline.
That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave

Oh those have come out really nice mate, perfect colours on Sabbat, made me laugh when you said that you did Spikes while the paint dried! And here's me needing a month to do one figure!!! Show off 😅😅
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, The colors were actually really easy with several washes making the silver armour the right tone, and Rakarth flesh really helped on the cloak as well. As for the speed trying to make up for last year, and get my hands working properly ! LOL
DeleteVery cool, Dave - though they don't seem too happy about being stuck there! Now that would have been a painful amount of eyes to paint in as well. :x
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazael, To be honest I wouldn't want to be stuck as part of a cloak either ! LOL You are not wrong on that many eyes either, tried to vary where they were looking as well, just for some variety ! LOL
DeleteSabbat looks ace mate! All those ridges and raised areas across the sculpt must have made painting at least interesting and fun?
ReplyDeleteSpikes should likewise do the job easily. Are you planning to mold these two?
Thank you Dai, yes deeper sculpt lines really help speed up painting ! LOL though the faces even with deep lines was very time consuming ! LOL
DeleteOn Spikes I'm trying to do faded denim so that's proving challenging, I hadn't planned on casting these because of licensing.
Well done Dave, what a win! So quick too. I thought mine would be quick but mission creep has set in.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael, have a renewed sense of purpose and didn't want to fail again this year ! LOL I'm sure you'll pull it off in time, as there is still 3 more weeks.
DeleteTop work, Dave, and super-quick too despite all the faces on the cloak. Spikes Harvey Rotten will doubtless make a welcome addition to your Cursed Earth Collection. I love the Tweak you modelled, and thoroughly enjoyed getting him on the battlefield for a fair few Judge Dredd inspired games a few years back.
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, trying to push on through as much as possible ! LOL It's been many years since I did Tweak, and glad you got enjoyment gaming with him.
DeleteI am unfamiliar with Strontium Dog, as the only 2000 AD stuff I've ever read was Dredd and Dredd-adjacent. This guy's cape is revolting, and only someone as skilled as you could sculpt it from scratch, Dave. Awesome work on the sculpting and the painting!
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith, Sabbat, was a super villain, as he took on both Johhny Alpha, and Judge Dredd at the same time plus the rest of what was left of Earth all at the same time ! LOL From what I remember the cloak was made from poor souls in his own dimension he twisted and tortured and turned into his cloak, and it was challenging but fun.
DeleteOh, lovely work Dave!
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal, was an interesting subject from start to finish ! LOL
DeleteHah never occurred to me that with all the faces that would mean you’d have to spend a good amount of time to get it to look right. Must have been tedious but the results are good!
ReplyDeleteThank you SD, yes every face sculpted was a face to paint, so didn't try to think about it, and just paint to get through ! LOL glad it worked out okay.
DeleteExcellent version and well done in completing him in super quick time!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, put a lot of other stuff on hold, to make sure I got him done.
DeleteIt might have been repetitive to paint but it came out great. He's one evil-looking guy now! :) Its great to see you making progress on the sculpting and painting at the same time too.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, the overall look was well worth all the repetitive work ! LOL Having several projects on the go means you can be working on the other one while the first ones drying ! LOL
