PAINT WHAT YOU GOT CHALLENGE 2023/2024

The time is rapidly approaching for the challenge that rounds up the year and starts the next. The start date for the challenge is the 26 th of December 2023 otherwise known as Boxing Day in the UK. So what counts in this challenge, EVERYTHING ! It can be part painted models, models painted from scratch the choice is yours, scenery counts as well, basically anything and everything, the challenge is all about getting models finished. You set your own targets, if you want to get one really well painted model done, or 30 gaming models the choice is yours, they just have to be completed between the start date listed above and the closing date of the 29 th of February 2024. Here are a selection of last years entries to intice you.

If you would like to take part then just leave a comment below or you can drop me an email at wargamesterrainworkshop@yahoo.co.uk expressing that you would like to take part. If yours is a blog I don't follow currently please leave a link to your blog. For me I'm aiming to clear some old projects, and if I'm lucky enough to get some new models for Christmas maybe paint some of them as well.

That's all for this post. so until next time stay safe and have fun !

MOUNT UP

Some of you may remember the Tarantula I painted recently, and that I said that I wanted to put a rider on it, well here is said rider attached (WARNING Arachnophobes scroll past these pictures ! See I listened Matt ! LOL)

For the rider, I used a metal terradon rider, and some plastic bits from the newer ranges to come up with this champion, plus a little bit of greenstuff to tie it all together. Below you can see him more clearly in his base materials.

For this next one we go back to more ideas for siege, in siege you can pay for things like battering rams, I thought it would be really cool to use Dinosaurs to fill the roles of the siege equipment, so got a plastic Pachycephalosaurus as these dino's had really thick skulls, and it is theorised that they would headbutt each other in mating courtships to prove suitability, and also in defence against predators. The rider is again a first edition terradon rider, with plastic bits from more up to date kits.

Sorry I forgot to take pictures of the conversion before painting, so you'll have to take my word for it ! That's all for this post, more Lizardmen inbound, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

THEN THERE WERE 3

When I posted up the Coatyl, I mentioned I had a second one, that needed a pair of wings, well I've made and painted this one now. I followed the same colour scheme as the last one, and also used a GW jungle tree as it's flying stand. All the connections have been pinned like last time to give it added strength to support the model. I also added some extra bends to the base model to add some variation to the last one.

So where did I get the wings, well I made them as you can see in the pictures below.

This now means I have three Coatyl's, two lesser ones and their bigger cousin, below is a group shot of them all together.

That's all for this post, more Lizardmen coming soon, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

FEELING FROGGY

I can't remember if I got these to put on bases or do as a swarm, but have opted for the swarm now, I've gone for colours of poison tree frogs, as a poison attack with them would be useful in gaming.

Below are the colour schemes I based these on.

While I did these I also painted up this toad which came in the Ripperdactyl box, I thought it could be used as a familiar for a skink priest.

I based it off of a Cane Toad as seen below.

Talking of Skink priests, I made one up from the crew of a Stegadon, I've gone for an albino colour scheme to mark him as special.

Lots more lizardmen to come, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

FEATHERED SERPENT

My recent painting of the Chameleon Skinks has reignited my interest in my Lizardmen army. When I first worked for GW I had a 2000 point Lizardmen army which were all first edition models, then when GW released the second edition models I started updating the models but not all of them, then when I left GW, they sat with zero attention from me, but this new found enthusiasm has seen me working on a lot.

The first model I have completed is this Coatyl, it is an early Citadel miniatures model, that I have had for a long time, I do have a second, but the wings got used a long time ago for something else, so will need to make a set of wings for it.

The colours were inspired by the snake below, and a Macaw's wings.

I also have the much larger Coatyl that I made for my business, so I will use this one as a lesser Coatyl. For anyone that doesn't know a Coatyl is a South American Dragon, and has always been my favourite. You can expect to see a lot more lizardmen to appearing on this blog, but that is all for this time, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

DUDE

This is my entry for Keith's Dwarvember that he is running on his blog angrypiper as dwarves aren't something that I do a lot of, the only ones in recent years were the one's I did for Miniaturemen's weird wild west range, I wanted to come up with a suitable model for the challenge. I decided on Keith's avatar picture an angry piper, last time I showed the green for it, and I have now finished the painting, I've tried to match Keith's colour scheme as well as I can, so here he is.

Overall happy with how he's turned out, and hope Keith likes it, I very much doubt I will paint any other hairy faced individuals before the end of the month, as some scaly skinned models have been taking up my attention, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
