As I continue on with my chess set I have finished another 3, First is Padme Amidala, we first met her in Episode 1 The Phantom Menace as Queen of Naboo, when her time in office finished she became a Senator in the Galactic Senate, where she fell in love with Anakin Skywalker, and had Luke and Leia before dying.
The outfit she is modelled in is from the scene in Episode 2 where she has just taken on the Nexu inside the Genosian arena.
At this stage the white suit has had a base colour and first highlight colour
In this stage the final white highlight has been added
Here you can see the finished model.
Next is her daughter Princess Leia, the outfit is from episode 4 A New Hope, the adoptive daughter of Bale Organa from Alderaan, she used her post as senator in the senate to aid the Rebel movement against the Empire.
Here you can see the skin based and washed to start
Next I painted the eyes and then highlighted the skin
The robes were done the same as Padme, as you can see in the finished pictures
Last today is Master Yoda, the head of the Jedi council until the empire tried wiping them out, and he went into hiding, he helped train Luke Skywalker.
This model was started a long time ago, so I haven't got ant WIP shots I'm afraid.
That's it for this post so until next time have fun !

KEEPER OF SECRETS
Azaezel's challenge this month for Awesome August, was to finish a large character model, as most of my stuff is still in boxes I didn't think I would be able to do one, but then remembered my Keeper of Secrets model wasn't boxed as it doesn't travel well and had brought it over by hand.
This model has sat part painted since I bought it on prerelease, as I wasn't happy with the colour I'd used, with the addition of a purple glaze to the skintone I'd used it gave it the unatural look I'd desired
Feels really good to clear this neglected model from the pile, until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

OBI MESSA SO PLEEAASED TO SEE YOUU !
Even though it's a saying from my least favourite character from the prequels, I thought I'd use it anyway.
As I continue you on with painting my chess set, I've been trying to take lot's of pictures as per Simon's request to show lot's of WIP shots, so here's the first one
As you can see in this shot all the sections are base coloured, except the hair
In this next shot I've worked more on his tunic
Now it's getting there
And finally I'm happy, just needs some gloss varnish on his boots and his perspex lightsabre, to finish. On future posts would people prefer a list of the colours used, or happy just to see the pics ?
That's it for this post so until next time have fun !

I FEEL A STRONG PRESENCE IN THE FORCE !
Since the move I haven't painted anything for Star Wars, and I've really wanted to ! Not being able to find any of my stuff has meant this would be a difficulty, until I spotted a Star Wars chess set my children bought me about 13 years ago, I always intended to paint it but had never got round to it.
I've only managed a start so far, but hopefully I can get them done quickly. So far I've cut off all the lightsabres as I'm going to add clear perspex ones, this is for two reasons, first I think they look better and two the pieces plastic is a bit bendy. There are a few weapons that need help as well, which I will try and straighten with pinning, if not rebuild them with plastic rod.
Here is a selection of the dark side models, as you can see I've started a few, but still have a way to go to finish them, planning on keeping the bases the colour they came in and just highlighting the symbol with silver as I've done on a couple.
This is how far I've got on the light side, will be keeping the base colour the same but picking out the symbol in gold, was a bit unsure on Clone Troopers as the pawns but there growing on me.
Hopefully another post soon, so until next time have fun !

GETTING THERE !
So it's been a long time since I posted anything due to the move, Still not completely there but things are moving in the right direction.
AS you can imagine I've not had a lot of time for hobby inbetween moving and keeping up with orders while everything is being put into the right place. So as a little thing to keep my eye in on sculpting I made a new Gear Knob for the work van.
Hoping to have my new sculpting room finished soon so I can get back on with some new releases and my entry for Awesome August.
We have a new addition to our team as well, Loki the guard dog, careful he may lick you to death ! LOL
Just a short post today, hopefully will back doing a lot more soon, so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

AND INTO PAINT THEY GO !
Going to have to call an early close to Mechanismo May, as the house move/ sit/work starts on Monday, which means I will have limited access to the internet for the next four weeks, this also means I won't be able to comment on your blogs as well during this time, so apologies in advance.
So what did I actually manage in this shortened month ? Firstly I finished the FX medical droid
Next is a Imperial Droid R5 J2 that was a simple paint job
Next is another Imperial droid R4 I9 which was also just a paint.
Last to be finished was a RA7 protocol droid, it wasn't the pure black I hoped to do, but will finish that one later
Zippo and J4X-7 will be worked on at a later point, infact I'm thinking of modifying J4 so I can release it as a gun drone robot on the web site.
That's it for this post, and I'll see you all on the flip side, so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

MECHANISMO UPDATE
So this week has been mostly taken up with painted orders and finalising the house move, which all being well will start next week. I have however made a bit of progress on my Mechanismo entries, first the FX medical assistant just needs the dome and umbilical arm finishing and will be ready for paint.
J4X-7 looks less like a blob now, but still needs lot's of work, but I have decided to go with tracks for it's form of movement and probably going to go with sensors on the top pillar.
Zippo is the furthest along, and just needs his lower arms finishing and a couple of symbols, then on to the painting.
I have cast up an R4, R5, and 2 RA7's ready for painting so all going well should have these done shortly.
WHAT MAKES US TICK !
Been reflecting in recent months on what makes us take part in this hobby and why we do what we do ! Now I have played games with unpainted models, even paper tokens, but for me I get as much enjoyment out of making, and painting the models as I do gaming. I have also played solo, right up to tournament level gaming, and for me I always enjoyed the social aspect of gaming against someone, rather than controlling all the aspects. Now that's just the way I enjoy to play, and would never think of telling anyone that's the way to do it.
This then got me thinking about why we comment on other blogs, I've been commenting longer than I've been blogging by well over a year, and still like to comment as often as I can, which in recent months hasn't been as much as I used to due to constraints on my time, and if I have offended anyone because I've missed a post of yours, my deepest apologies, no slight was meant.
Now as we all have different tastes and interests, people may post up subjects from time to time that I have no interest in, but I still try to comment as I follow that persons blog, and like to show that I've seen their post, and respect the time and effort they've put into it.
What I'm trying to say is no matter how you enjoy this hobby, as long as your not hurting anyone else, enjoy it in whatever form makes you happy and remember we are a community that should support each other.
Until next time have FUN !
Cheers Dave
