" WHERE DOES THE TIME GO "

So about half way through the casting, and almost finished the displays, but still got a lot of sculpting that needs finishing for myself and a client, so hopefully will get it all done in time.
Now as I know quite a few won't be able to attend Salute I thought I'd show a couple of the displays that will be at the show. The first one used to be a cabinet display, but will now be part of our alien scenery board. A lot of the coloured resin on this one lights up.

This next one is a new display so you all get to see it first, the centre of the portal is achieved with a plasma disc behind blue acetate.

Got a few blogs to try and catch up on today, in between work so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Very cool, Dave. I particularly like the blue "eggs". Weird, yet funky, especially with the lighting effect.

  2. Thank you Jez, do you mean the ones on the bottom left, as that is a gas bush, but do have lots of customers who have used them as eggs, the egg clusters in the back right pulsate blue through the green paint which really creeps people out ! LOL

  3. As someone who won't be attending Salute, I appreciate you posting these pictures, Dave. Both displays are excellent.

    1. Thank you Roger, the lights all came about because a customer asked if it was possible to light our translucent resin, this was the proof that you could

" I'M JUST STEPPING OUTSIDE I MAY BE SOMETIME "

As there is only just over 5 weeks until Salute, I will be quiet  on the blogging front. This is due to 14 sheets of casting required to restock my stall, plus I would like to sort out my display cabinets as well to get them back to full working order.
Below is the customary map on where to find us, for those visiting the event, plus we are going to have balloons so you can spot us from anywhere in the hall .

Will try to keep up with your blog posts as time permits, so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

" IN LIVING COLOUR "

Painting time at the moment is minimal, but this weekend should see me having a little more time until April.
I have actually managed to paint the 3 new gladiators, the male Traventi is armed with a attack shield and mace flail.

The Female Traventi is armed with a standard sword and shield.

The Traventi in heavy armour is armed with twin buckler's.

This is the selection of weapons that the Traventi can use

Next week I will hopefully do a battle report with these new glads, so until next time have fun !
Cheers Dave

  5. Nicely done. These are the big guys aren't they Dave (about 50/54mm.. base to top of head, right?). They will look impressive in the ring alongside all the beasties :-) I really like the blue skin colour of the Traventi. My horde of them look suitably cool on the table (the King`s Court I call it:). I use mine in my D&D games and they always cause a stir and fear in my players, who have learned to dread meeting them in my sessions. Course, they could be painted any colour, but blue does seem to work well.

    1. Thank you Steve, yes these guys are the larger ones, normally on 25 mm bases but as these are more dynamic their on 40 mm bases.
Sounds like your D&D lot are having a hard time with them ! lol but as you say could be painted in any colour, this is just the way I chose to do mine.

    2. LOL oh they do they do. The word Traventi mames even my boldest warriors quake in their boots with fear.... even the smell of cinnamon makes my players quail (Travanti in my game give off an fain sweet odder of spice hehe).
    3. Nice addition with the odour, I see them as very much like humans, good and bad within them, but can be even more extreme ! Vallatrix is a prime example of this and would sacrifice his own daughter if it made him more money !

    4. Yes, the tint of cinnamon was a sudden mid session inspiration, and makes for good foreshadowing in a game.

..... the heroes entered the tent, hurriedly looking around for any sign of danger! The four of them quickly discovered the makeshift pavilion was currently uninhabited, though signs of it being occupied was present all around.. a bowl of fresh fruit on a bronze pedestal, a basin of still steaming water, dried herbs floated on the surface: a finely adorned dais, and a silk furbished recliner resting along one wall of the canvas interior, which flapped gently in the cool summer breeze.

But the thing that really caught the attention of the party of four, was the slight smell of cinnamon, which scented the air in noxious and opulent aroma.

The Rogue gasped slightly, and looked to his companions with concern.

      "Traventi!" he hissed.

Hehe, yes Vallatrix reminds me very much of the humans of Ancient Byzantine history: deadly, and yet somehow sensually and sophisticatedly attractive.
    5. Great intro for your players, very atmospheric !
I imagine him having all the worst traits, greed being his worst, but happy to use any and all means to keep his position of power, thinking later on to build a secret force under his control to keep him in power, it might be they're all Traventians or maybe put in other races as well

    6. Like Emperor Ming`s "Golden Dragon" elite guards. now that's a cool idea.
    7. Indeed or any of the human ones that are in force now ! lol
