While running my first challenge, I'm also wanting to take part in Azazelx challenge the-jewel-of-july-2020-community-painting-challenge I have a couple of bits I'd like to do, but the main one I finally want to finish is this Dragon from MDP, this is another one I sculpted for them, and has sat for many years collecting dust and totally neglected. Over the last couple of days I have been putting the bits together and filling any gaps.
Thinking of a red colour scheme for the dragon, and possibly yellow wings, but that may change as the painting progresses.
Have also been looking at what I would like to do for the Summer of Scenery challenge, and have sorted out a couple of GW building pieces I'd like to finally get painted, but also I'm hoping to make some new scenery pieces, some for the business, and maybe a couple of pieces that are just for me, but will share more on this in a later post.
That's the lot for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

SUMMER OF SCENERY CHALLENGE !
Over the past few years I've taken part in quite a few challenges, Forgotten Heroes twice, Monster May(hem), Models of Magnitude, to name a few, and will also be taking part in Jewel of July.
Now having taken part in quite a few I decided it's about time I ran one, as the summer months can be hard to motivate ourselves through, with warm weather making things difficult, and normally going off enjoying the sunshine, hobby falls to the wayside until the Autumn. With the restrictions of lockdown still in effect I thought let's make the most of this time to finish off some scenery, as scenery is often left til last as we have far too many models to finish.
So what's the parameters any piece of scenery that's started or new can be included (this could be the push to get that piece finally finished) and there is no size restriction either, it could be scatter scenery like azazelx's been working on, or a large structure like Harry's wonderful Windmill. The item can be a purchased item or a complete scratchbuild
Just because the title is Summer don't think you can't enter Autumn or Winter themed scenery, the more the merrier. I think we should also include vehicles as this can be used as strategic scenery pieces as well, and all genres are included, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, historical, if it's scenery it counts.
The event will start on the 1 st of July and run until the 31 st of August.
Above are a few examples of what I mean, if your interested in taking part, comment below so I can make sure to link to your pieces at the end in a roundup, and all I have left to say is I hope you'll join in, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

Probably my most favourite scenery piece
If you've got the time to do this much and want to, go for it
This frozen well shows a wintery feel
Just because it's small doesn't make it any less of a scenery piece
This vehicle has definitely become sceneryAbove are a few examples of what I mean, if your interested in taking part, comment below so I can make sure to link to your pieces at the end in a roundup, and all I have left to say is I hope you'll join in, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

COMPLETION !
My Forgotten Heroes for 2020 draws to an end as I have now completed Purity Brown, Terri, and Grobbendork, I may yet finish Torquemada in armour, but as this is on top of what I aimed to achieve I'll save that for a separate post if I get it done.
Here's a shot of all the models finished for this year that I hoped to do, not very happy with Purity and Terri so no individual shots.
This is a shot of the original seven
This was the second rendition during Nemesis the Warlock Gothic War.
This was the start of Nemesis the Warlock into the Time Wastes.
This was the team for the Black Hole Bypass story.
This was the team for Khronicles of Khaos, Hellbringer, and the start of The Third Element.
For the continuation of the Third Element this was the team, also for The Shadow Warriors.
This is the current team that developed through the Volgan War Saga, and has run through, Return to Earth, Return to Mars and Return to Ro Busters.
That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

GHOSTLY APPARITION
On one of my recent posts Frank asked about opposition for my warriors, I've been pondering this for a long time, as I could do some of the opposition from their Mars adventures, or Imperial Rottweilers from the Khronicles of Khaos, or the might of Termight from Nemesis the Warlock, I've decided to start with Termight. First and foremost would be Torquemada, so I've started work on him in full armour, but have finished his ghostly spirit form first. There were several different versions of his spirit, but this was my favourite version
Thinking in gaming terms, that if the human form is killed, then the spirit form manifests at the same spot, physically unable to effect the opposition but can animate any dead terminators to continue fighting, when in spirit form, is only able to be hurt by psychic attacks.
That's all for this post, as I finish the humans and slug on the table, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

STEELHORN
This is the last robot I need to complete all the renditions of the Warriors, leaving two humans and a slug to finish.
SteelHorn first appeared in the very first incarnation of the warriors, but spent most of the series as a molten mess of metal, until it fused with the very large robot George during the battle at BIOL. He later returned to the warriors in the " Third Element" where Medusa the planet spirit of Mars had returned him to his robot form, and has continued to be a member of the group since.
If I'd had spare silicone I'd have taken a mould of at least the chest and head so I could cast it in translucent blue, to add to the effect of the crystalline structure, but had to suffice with painting the effect. Pleased with the overall effect of the model, and happy to have finished the robot element, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

JOE PINEAPPLES
In the cross hairs of this post is Joe Pineapples, he has been a part of the warriors through all versions, and the best sniper, his look and the way he talks may have changed over the years but his marksmanship has never changed.
He has had some strange looks, but Clint Langley has returned him to the basic bare bones style, as robots go some consider him to be very cool, so much so he has human female girlfriends.
The model is another complete scratch build, and had a few challenges on the painting as his symbols looked more like painted on than 3D, but always happy to accept a challenge.
That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

DEADLOCK
The next warrior to be conjured up is Deadlock, a long serving character in this franchise, having only missed 1 incarnation, Nemesis book 4 the Gothic War, in which Nemesis took the place of Deadlock ( probably didn't want two with the powers of the mystic arts running around), he also had a one off story on his own, which can be found in the graphic novel "The solo missions"
He has long been one of my favourite characters and again I've based the model and painting from Clint Langley's work, although I have added a nod to the Khronicles of Khaos book with him casting a demonic apparition, he is very different in pose and style to any model that has been released of him previously, which is why I was able to make him as part of Forgotten Heroes.
That's all for this post, while I work on two more robots, and two humans, plus a slug to finish the set, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

MODELS OF MAGNITUDE !
Last month and this one Ann has been running a model of magnitude challenge on her blog annwycoff and I had hoped to finish my second dragon I'd sculpted for MDP but can't find it's base at the moment so it will have to wait longer, so instead I've painted up this Succubus model that's been sat for a while. Now obviously it's not the sort of model I would normally buy as the body has been overly exaggerated with tiny waist and enlarged bum and chest, but it was a surprise from my wife and children on one of our visits to Medieval Times in Florida, the children choose it as they thought I'd like the bat wings, and so it has sat collecting dust until now.
I would have liked to bent the end of the left wing up, but it's cast in pewter so that wasn't an option, I've used glazes and several other techniques to get it finished, and was pleased with the overall effect.
The challenge was to be at least Ogre sized or above, the model is 70 mm tall from toe to top of head, so should count.
That's all for this post so until next time and more warriors, stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

HAMMERSTEIN !
Next off the factory line is Hammerstein, he is one of only 3 robots to have appeared in every version of the Meknificent seven and was first introduced in Ro Busters in the comic Star Lord with a different head and hammer. In the storyline he was the first war robot built and put into service, and he believes he is the leader of the A.B.C. Warriors, although in a lot of the storylines you would think it was Deadlock or Steelhorn, but that's an argument for them.
The model is a complete scratch build using Greenstuff and plastic rod, now before anyone says "Dave he's supposed to be brown, you would be correct, apart from Clint Langley's version where he coloured him in a blue grey, and as I've sculpted his version I stuck with his colour scheme. Although it's hard to see in the pictures I did include the extra arm sockets, so at a later date I can make these and put them on the model if I want to.
If I hope to finish all of them by the end of the month I need to be doing roughly 2 a week so need to get a move on.
That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

ZIPPO !
First off the factory line for this years Forgotten Heroes is probably no surprise Zippo, as the frame for this one was almost finished when I did my introduction post
The character was introduced during the series "The Volgan Wars" originally was part of a covert group and known as agent orange. After the A.B.C. Warriors had kicked Mek Quake out of the warriors and dumped him off at an asylum for robots, they had gone to rescue Zippo and recruit him, and on the journey each character recanted how they had first met Zippo during the Volgan War. he has since been in the intro and end of Return to Earth, Return to Mars and Return to Ro-Busters, probably more but that's as far as they have printed in Graphic novel form.
The whole model is either greenstuff, or plastic rod, and painted in a colour scheme to fit with the comic strip.
If I was making this as a production model I would have to do it with two head variants, to show the difference between mouth open and closed, and he'd also need multiple arm variants as he's been shown with multiple configurations.
That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
