BARRICADES

I thought I'd start the Season of Scenery with some quick simple pieces of scenery, first is a set of barricades from the first edition Killteam starter set (orcs vs Death Korp of Kreig) simple scenery, but I forgot I had them until emptying more stuff out of my room ! LOL went for a simple color scheme, with lots of chipping to tie in with the bullet dents to show lots of action.

I've also done the second set of Legion barricades from the original starter set, you may remember I painted a set a long time ago, but after watching Andor season 2 where they actually used barricades just like these on Gorman I decided to paint my second set to match them, below are the two types you got in the box.

I've taken a scale shot of the 40K and Legion one next to a Legion model so you can see the difference.

Hope everyone is having fun with their own scenery, that's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Nice start Dave!

Man, Legion scale characters will really have to hunker down behind those 40K barriers to get much protection, eh? (Probably the base on the fig mind)

Am hoping to get some time to myself to get working on my own first entry for your SoS challenge this long weekend.

    1. Thank you Dai, yes I think they would need to be in the fetal position to make sure none of them is protruding ! LOL
I'm hoping to get a chunk of the juggernaut finished this weekend myself, but we don't have the extra day as you do over there, hope you have a good one mate, and get a lot done.

  3. Wow..!! Talk about straight out of the gates, Dave. LOL!! And you've even managed to tie it into your favourite painting subject - Star Wars, too..!! Great work. Spookily, I've just bought the latest Kill Team rulebook as I thought I'd give it a go seeing as all the squad details are freebies on the GW site.

    1. Thank you Simon, easy pieces really, they all took less than 24 hours from start to finish as they were mostly basecoating and chipping with the odd detail ! LOL I might do some more Killteam units to give my children different units to fight against ! LOL

  5. Nice work and nice spot, Dave. I've got a whole bunch of those Legion barricades to paint and I was going to either go with regular dark/german grey or mechanicus standard green-grey (spray can version), but perhaps I need to go with black instead...

    1. Thank you Azazael, The first batch I did in grey, with a couple with Sabine graffiti on them to break up the grey, but when I saw them in Andor, I thought they would be an easy win, black undercoat, white markings and silver chipping and done ! LOL

    1. Thank you Michael, the hardest trick is to not repeat patterns on the same piece and duplicate pieces, the more random the better, and sometimes less is more ! LOL
