WHEN ONE DOOR OPENS

Been working on several commissions lately, and thought I'd share some doorways I've been doing, the first one is a bulkhead door, effectively this is the outside wall for a hanger bay, I've made the doors moveable as you will see below.

Next is a standard doorway that will be at the ends of corridors and also used as entry points for rooms, the first picture shows without locking and communication points, the second one with. The doors slide up so you can have them open or closed.

After some of my recent posts I was asked if I could show some fleet pictures for my Star Wars ships, so here is the Imperial fleet I've amassed.

Below is my Rebel Ships.

As you can see above, I've had to do a repair on my X-Wing as it got damaged when we moved house, and you will also notice my U-wing is suffering with droop on it's wings, so I will need to take them apart and add some strengthening rods so this wont happen again. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

DEFENDER

No I'm not talking the old arcade game, but another variation on the TIE fighter the Defender Elite, this was developed by Grand Admiral Thrawn, before the completion of the Death Star, so fits in the timeline I'm working with, and was also a major part of the Star Wars Rebels series, which I am a huge fan of, so having one of these was a must for me. The model is a 3D filament print, so less detail than the previous model I did for the Interceptor, also it's not an accurate portrayal from the reference, but I've worked with what I have.

Painting wise I went simple, as the weathering mix I have would have shown up all the lines. As the wings aren't exact I've modified the edge colours to give it the right feel. I think this completes my TIE collection for now, as the Phantom was created later, the only other one's would be an Inquisitor's or Vader's but I probably wouldn't use them very often, so that just leaves me to build an Imperial Shuttle, which I will get round to at some point. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

INTERCEPTOR

No I am not talking the last of the V8's today, but my favourite version of the TIE fighter, this model is a 3D resin print that my good friend Dai found on Etsy ( you are a absolute legend mate) the model comes with a stand, that I have a bit of a problem with, not only does the TIE not sit on it well, but would make it imposssible for the pilot to get in ! LOL So I'm going to use this as a platform for the pilot to get to the canopy, and make a pair of support struts for the TIE to rest on

Now onto the the TIE itself, the detail is amazing, the same level as my recent Y-Wing, with fully detailed interior, and pilot. the instructions said the canopy could be glued open or shut, but as it provided  the necessary components, I made it moveable just for options.

Was really pleased with how this one turned out, I still need to add lenses to the view port, but that's for a day when I'm feeling daring ! LOL Still more to do, but that's a post for another day, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

DIE JEDI DIE

"Oh my, what did I just say " yes I finally have got round to the 3PO conversion that was seen in Attack of the clones episode 2, I used one of the B1 battle droids I already had, plus the 3PO model that came with the drop pod kit for Legion, the head swap was easy enough, but the 3PO arms needed a lot of moving to hold the blaster, and I had to sculpt the hands onto the weapon. you will notice that the B1 parts are lighter than the reference pictures because all my B1's are painted in the episode 1 colour scheme.

While I was doing droids I also painted up the R2 that came with the pod as well, but painted it as QT-KT of the D-Squad from the cartoon Clone Wars series, I still need to do R2-D2 for this squad but want him stood on two legs.

Last today I've also done a R5 to sit in my Y-Wing I finished recently, it is removable, depending on whether I want  an astromech or not depending on the scenario.

That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

SLITHER ME HISS

In a vain hope of clearing some space on the painting desk, I've finally finished up some swarm bases for my Lizardmen army, most are snake bases, but I did manage to make up a complete lizard base as well.

I based the colours on the Cayman Lizard, just made the colours a bit bolder, here is a reference picture of the real one.

Below I've split the snake bases in to two pictures to better show them off.

AS you can see there are many different types of snake on there, and here is some of the reference pictures I based them off, I went for snakes that were indigenous to South America .

You may notice cobra's on the bases and think aren't they from Asia and you'd be right, so to add variety I tried to find different colour schemes for them, below is the reference.

That's all for today, hopefully I can clear some more space on the desk, as long as I don't keep adding new projects, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

THIS SHOULD COME AS NO SURPRISE

Anyone who's followed this blog for a while should know I have the patience of a gnat, and so my best laid plans normally come undone due to my impatience ! LOL The latest to suffer from this is one of my Great Gnarloc's, the one with the weapon mount and crew, to avoid the other two falling into this trap, I've moved one out of sight (hopefully I remember where I put it, when I need it ! LOL) and haven't finished the sculpt on the second one, so they will be available for Monster May(hem). So onto the one that didn't last, I could have done another Quad Gun, but fancied using some spares from the Killteam box, just because the weapon looked cool, the crew were made from various spares, the back one was mostly parts from the Lonespear options, the arms on the front one, came from the Killteam box, but the body is one of the original carnivore box set, not the new one. the pelt and skull are based off of the Dark Eldar Clawed Fiend.

After finishing the model, I managed to find the Kill team rules, apparently the weapon is called a skinner, but has a pitiful range of 6 " but then so does the scattergun (shotgun to the rest of us) which in 40K has a 18" range so in my games I'll just increase the range to 18". Below is both of the heavy weapon beasts I now have.

That's all for today, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

THE NEXT GREAT EXPANSE

Any expansion often starts small, and this one is no exception, one thing one of my regular gaming buddies said about my Kroot Army was that it felt Marine like in it's construction, all the squads being uniform in squads of 10, and felt uneven numbers and differing ones would feel more organic. As I had three models left from the box of carnivore's I thought why not add them to some of my existing squads, rather than starting a new one. The two squads I chose were my basic squads with no extra bells or whistles, as these are the primary squads of an army. I looked at the poses I had, two were slow ambling poses, and one was running, as my two basic squads are either static or in motion, this was easy to appropriate them. Here are the two static poses.

Below is the running pose.

I did add some bits from the bits box on all three, so they matched the existing models in the squads, things like pistols in holsters, and chunks of meat. As I move forward with this project, I will continue to add to these two squads first, hopefully bringing both up to squads of 20 before adding to any of the other units. That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
