Normally for me that would be a runaway train, but in this case I'm close to finishing my commission order. First up today is one of two candelabra my client has requested, I've almost finished building the second, so that should hopefully be finished this week. This was made from plastic rod and greenstuff.
The next piece is a spooky chair/throne, which was the brief my client gave me. this was made from plasticard and greenstuff.
Last today, is a staircase, my client wanted models to be able to stand on them, so the stairs needed to be deep enough for a model base. The stairs are all high density foam, and the balustrades are plastic rod and greenstuff, with a couple of skulls from the bits box.
From the picture above you will see I narrowed the top of the stairs, to add to the optical illusion of them being vast. If my client is happy with this set, I'll need to do another set to finish his order.
That's all for this post, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Cool. These are the bits that bring life to a dungeon or any board. Lovely work
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, I believe all the pieces I've built for him in this batch are for one scenario, involving a vampire, which gave me a clear direction to go.
DeleteImpressive, Dave! :-) I like that candelabra!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, was pleased with how it turned out, and should hopefully have the second one finished today.
Deletegreat job. Aces all around. 😁
ReplyDeletecool trick with the stairs.
Thank you Stewart, a simple optical illusion, but an effective one ! LOL
DeleteThese are excellent pieces of terrain once again, Dave. Never question an artist's decisions, but I am curious why the bannisters are the same color as the stairs? I'd be tempted to make them look like metal just for some visual variety but then again, this is a commission and that might be what was requested of you which is totally understandable.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, no harm in asking, in older European castles the bannisters were made of stone, as this was for a vampires castle, I didn't think he would want something that could be broken off and used as a stake through the heart ! LOL Also in some folklore certain metals were harmful to supernatural creatures.
DeleteI had no idea but that is fascinating! You can tell how many European castles this American has visited... I'm going to have to try and rectify that in the future!
DeleteIf you ever do, check the age of the castle, and if it had later renovations, as a lot of time later on they updated and removed the stone bannisters for wood, as it was easier to find cheap woodworkers, rather than the more expensive stone masons.
DeleteGreat pieces Dave - the stairs look awesome and I love the little touch of narrowing them at the top.
ReplyDeleteThank you Azazael, it was a trick from cinematography that I had read, and thought why not try it on scenery ! LOL
