APOCALYPSE ME 2024

Hope you've all recovered from Season of Scenery, as it's now time for Apocalypse Me, the challenge where any model or scenery piece for any apocalypse can be painted, so if Post apocalyptic is your thing ( Judge Dredd, Fallout, Mad Max to name but three), or Zombie apocalypse is your thing, now is the time to get your models finished, not sure what an apocalypse event is, here is a definition

an event resulting in great destruction and violent change

So if you can explain what apocalypse event is going on then I'm sure it will count, some people describe World War 2 as an apocalyptic event, so you can see the scope is quite broad. Mark has already mentioned he would like to do some of his Wars of Ozz models, as they are based on the end of Ozz, due to war.

Below are some of the fantastic entries from last years challenge

If you are feeling extra creative, you can always convert or paint a model of yourself in your favourite apocalypse setting, here is the one I did of myself in the first challenge, for a Zombie Apocalypse.

If you would like to take part, please leave a comment below, and if yours is a blog I don't currently follow or comment on, please leave a link to your blog as well.

Talking of Blog's Da Gobbo has recently restarted blogging, he was a large commenter in the early days of this blog, and has been missed during his hiatus, his blog dagobbosgrotto covers a wide range of subject material (his recent burrows & Badgers buildings are awesome) will be posting up zombie apocalypse battle reports which will be well worth a read during the month of October.

That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

Not often I'm first to comment Dave! If Mars invading Earth in the 19th Century is an apocalyptic event I'm in - that has nothing to do with the fact that I have a steampunk figure on my desk waiting to be finished, absolutely not!!

    1. You are the first and only so far John ! LOL I would say an alien invasion definitely counts as an apocalyptic event, as for the model on the desk, that's just good timing ! LOL

  2. thanks for the plug Dave, it would be nice to get back to the level of commentary that I had back in the day, especially as I've got some batreps coming up. I might have to get my backside in gear and get in on this, I'm thinking maybe Carnevale maybe?!?

    1. You are most welcome Andy, would be great to have you on board for this event, and most conflicts could be classed as an apocalyptic event by it's definition, so I would say it fits.

  4. I'm certainly in once again. I'll have Zombipocalypse stuff in both a modern and a fantasy setting for starters. Just wondering.. does either the Galactic Civil War or the War of the Five Kings count as an "Apocalypse"? (I guess don't be hanging out on Alderaan!) ..."asking for a friend"... :o

    1. Great to have you on board for another year mate. By the definition I posted above I would say they both count, so you can tell your friend yes ! LOL

  5. I'd love to participate but after the previous challenge where I pledged and failed to really contribute much, I'll add a caveat and say I'll do it, if I can! The Pangolin takes precedence, though I am very interested in getting some Fallout stuff done again as I'll talk about in a future blog post.

    1. Fully understand on the Pangolin taking precedence, so I'll class you as out, but if a Fallout mini appears during the month you're in ! LOL

  6. Hi Dave first off best of luck with this challenge, you've probably guessed from the late reply that I'm going to have to give this a miss this year, I'm knee deep in balsa and resin at the moment as I'm trying to get at least one of my "project" boats finished before the Xmas and I get another one!

    Cheers Roger.

  7. Ah the month I'm working on Bretonnia for Old World! If I manage to sneak in a model for Necromunda then that will be my entry for the event, we'll see if I can make it happen!

    1. No problem SD, there is an argument for the old world to be classed as an apocalyptic event, and I thougght you weren't painting any Necromunda ! LOL
