GIRL POWER

For my first post for Fembruary I've finished some of the Star Wars females that I put to one side just for this challenge.

First today is Jyn Erso from Rogue One, the model was nicely detailed, and just needed to match the colours as best I could from the movie still.

Next today is a a Theelin female, now until recently I had only seen 2, one in Jabba's Palace, as a back up singer, and one in Star Wars Rebels cartoon, called Gooti Terez, I went for this version as she was a rebel, and even became a lieutenant in the rebellion. In the book of Boba Fett, there has been another Theelin, sat at a table when the Mandolorian brought in a bounty.

Next I have a group of 3 human rebels, some of these models are really hard to spot that they are female, because of the clothing and webbing hiding the female form.

Next is a character from the "Return To Hoth" box set called Verena Talos

It was nice to see the Empire receive a female model as well in the form of an officer.

Last today, is one of the rebels that Frank sent me, as I have already painted up one of these, I thought I would do a quick conversion and change it's role. Have included my original model on the left for comparison.

That's all for today, should have something very different for next weeks Fembruary post, so until then stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Nice work on all of them mate, might have known you'd go Star Wars for this challenge too (good job this isn't just after the first move came out, or your choices would have been somewhat limited! πŸ˜‰).

Also personal congrats on resisting naming this post "Theelin Groovy" (I would have 😁).

    Cheers Roger.

    1. Thank you Roger, most of my other Fembruary posts have nothing to do with Star Wars, so should have some variation through the month ! LOL Luckily there is a lot more choice now, even in units that didn't have female characters in the movies.
Thought that would be too obvious, plus only highlights one of the ladies ! LOL

  2. Fembruary, I hadn't heard that before, I like it πŸ˜€ Great stuff on Jyn, such a fab character. I learned something new today, I had no idea that the female with the spikey hair from the Rebel specialist box set was a specific species, I thought the hair was purely an aesthetic choice lol 🀷‍♂️

    1. Thank you Ivor, it's normally run by Alex on https://leadballoony.com/ but this year real life has stopped him from actively running it, but he's hoping people will still take part. Jyn was very cool in the film, and could certainly handle her own, the hair is based off of Gooti, the back up singer in Jabba's Palace had a very different hairstyle, but glad I could give some new information.

    1. Thank you Suber, surprisingly I haven't done many conversions on these minis unless it's to correct a costume oversight, so has been a fun challenge.

  5. All lovely paintjobs, Dave! The Theelin is my fave, I love the white skin and pink hair. Nice to see so many of the female characters being given the mini treatment.

    1. Thank you Matt, my favourite out of the bunch is Jyn, but Gooti comes a very close second, it is really nice to see more female models available, that aren't all walking around in chainmail bikini's ! LOL

  7. Really nice work on all of these! Its good to see one of the most famous people from Birmingham (that I can think of late at night anyway) painted up! Jyn looks really great and is another character I really liked in Rogue One. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you have up your sleeve for Fembuary as well!

    1. Thank you Jeff, Rogue One was full of great characters, even the supporting roles were stronger than most of the characters in 7, 8, & 9 !LOL If I can get the skin tone right I've got a 140 mm tall model I'm working on that I hope to finish by next Fridays post.

  8. Wonderful work as always Dave. Like many others on here I not heard of Fembuary either 😊 but as it just so happens I'm painting my Escher gang for Necromunda at the moment, now when it comes to turning out painted models I don't work at your speed but I'll try get at least 1 done before I head off on hols on the 18th so as to be apart of things.
On a title I'd have gone for, Its rain men, but that's just me πŸ˜‚

  10. Fembruary ?- Who'd have thought ?
Good collection of females, with noneof the 'fantasy' aspects of being half-dressed. The rebel trio of females are superb and as you say very difficult to spot thet they're female. A conversion too ! I don;t know how you find the time or motivation, you must be well pleased with these.

    1. Thank you Joe, only found Fembruary myself last year, so happy to spread the information.
It is so nice to see a different side to female models, in recent years, rather than the old fur bikini clad models that used to be available. I had to look several times to spot it due to webbing or baggy top hiding the form. Very pleased with all of them, and gives me something to do, when the rest of the house is asleep, and I can't ! LOL
