Recently Ann set a challenge on her blog to show the first model completed in 2021, as I do like to support others challenges, I accepted. The model is a plastic Librarian that I've painted up in the colours for my Night Hawks chapter, I'm not a massive fan of these cherubs but decided to include it anyway.
This model was a gift from my In-Laws this Christmas, along with several other 40K models which will get shown at a later date. I hadn't intended to paint this one just yet, but while waiting for washes to dry I got it assembled, and then added paint as and when I felt like it.
I wasn't sure what model would be the first completed of 2021, as there is so many different projects sat on my desk at the moment, it just happened to be this one.
As this model wasn't in the plan for my own challenge, I feel I need to add a clearing unit to my list, so will endeavour to paint up a squadron of speeders on top of my current list.
That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave
He looks great, Dave! Always like a good Librarian model myself. I just need to paint more of them. And, well, more of everything! Does the cherubim have in-game rules these days? (I could check myself, I guess.. but...)
ReplyDeleteCheers mate, Really need a lot more librarians myself to complete the chapter, but I think a lot will have to be found on Ebay, or converted plastic marines, as GW only have a small number available now, and I still want to have the 3 different levels. As for the rules on cherubs I'm working with outdated rules, so can't answer that one, but I will be making rules for them in the system I am working on
DeleteCrikey, Dave, finished your first model of 2021 already! Very nice! :-) I have no idea what my first model of 2021 is going to be, apart from the fact it's one I already own!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, I was surprised as well ! Really didn't know what project was going to end up being first as I had been flitting between so many ! LOL
DeleteA bit out of the left field with this model Dave but a cracking job none the less.
ReplyDeleteAs for Cherubs, how could you not love them ? :)
Thank you Frank, hadn't really mentioned it, as I hadn't figured it into my plan, it kinda just happened when I needed breaks from demon skin and Star Wars, I'd just paint a bit ! LOL
DeleteAlways found them a bit creepy if I'm honest, especially the GW look with the biomechanical, but that's just me
He looks excellent, Dave. At first I thought he was an Ultramarine, but then I remembered that these days Librarians have to be blue (WHY??). I have to agree with you about the cherubs being creepy.
ReplyDeleteThank you Matt, have kept his core in Night Hawk colours as I do with all the specialist marines, but his robe covers so much it's barely noticeable. Can't for the life of me remember why they're blue, but would imagine it's got something to do with the Ultramarines. Indeed far too creepy
DeleteBursting out of the gates Dave, that took no time at all for your first figure! Great stuff 😀
ReplyDeleteThank you Ivor, there were multiple models in the running including Dooku and Evazan, but I wanted to be organic with the painting on which one got finished first
DeleteCrikey you are turning them out aren't you, I didn't even see yesterdays post till now! Great work on all of them Dave, I'll have to pull my finger out now as I 've only undercoated my lot as of yet!
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, just trying to make the most of when my hands are okay to hold the brush, as it's getting harder. Would really like to get some old projects finished this year, so can focus on just one or two for as long as I can.
DeleteDon't worry mate it's not a competition, you work at your pace, that's why everyone set their own target
No like any librarian, I've ever seen, but a beautifully painted miniature nevertheless.
ReplyDelete(Btw yes, I know of the Librarians via 'Space Hulk', so the above is tongue in cheek).
Thank you Joe, that certainly brought a smile to my face, so thank you my friend ! LOL
DeleteVery nice and colorful miniature and a great painting start to 2021! Particularly like the yellow cloth and bit of black freehand work.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann, pretty standard colour choices on this one, but did try the contrast paint to shade the robes, can't claim credit as the symbols were embossed on the robe, I just had to follow the lines ! LOL
DeleteYour Librarian turned out great Dave! My first model was a repeat from last year haha: https://www.joesavestheday.com/2021/01/raptors-brother-feurranator.html
ReplyDeleteThank you Joe, there was a point in time I only painted marines, thankfully now I have a wider range of distractions ! LOL
DeleteThis looks brilliant!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mick, I do like to paint my Space Marines from time to time.
