FROM FLEDGLING TO SPEEDER

Progress on Ben's house has been a little slow this weekend due to a technical problem on the website, but over the last week I have made some progress on some of my Nighthawks.

First up is two Fledgling squads that I had done to tournament finish, but wanted to bring them up to the same standard as the rest of the army, I have a mix of new style scouts and old models as well, including some of the Space Wolves scouts as well.

Next up is a jetbike I showed on the old blog, which I finally finished detailing.

I have since taken a mould and started making up the many I need to make the whole company.

Finally today I have a squadron of Landspeeder Typhoon's, I've painted one up as a Sargent to add a bit more character to the squadron.

Still haven't come up with a new for this company that are all mounted on speeders, if any one has any suggestions please feel free to leave them in the comments.

The names I have so far are 1 st Company Wing Knights (All Jump Packers), 2 nd Company Screaming Eagles ( all jet bikers), 3 rd Company Storm Bringers ( all Devastators) 4 th Company ? ( all on speeders), 5 th Company ? ( reserve company mix of jump packers and devastators) 6 th Company Fledglings ( scouts).

That's all for this post hopefully next time more on Ben's House, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

    1. Thank you Keith, that one took many years unfortunately, got frustrated part way through then it sat for a long time collecting dust, until I finally said THAT'S IT and worked on it until it was finished, sometimes I just get blocks like that, and if it's something for me I just put it to one side

  3. Man I love those old style Scouts from Advanced Space Crusade. Well, not the plastic ones, but the metal figs later produced.

Lovely work all around Dave - a company all mounted on those sweet jetbikes will be spectacular.

4th Company name idea: Swooping Talons?

    1. Thank you Dai, the plastic space crusade scouts are the only one I don't have any off as they were just so static !
Thinking for the command group doing them on the Custodes bikes but the rest will be on these, just need to work out a Tech marine version.
That's a very cool idea cheers mate

    1. Thank you Frank, when I took the scout marine army to the tournament, it had 73 models in it, you can imagine the surprise on other players faces ! LOL

  5. Beautiful work and superb colour choices !
As for names I'm rubbish with that sort of thing, I'd probably end up plagiarising from history.

    1. Thank you Joe, the colours were a definite evolution over time and different skill sets that I aquired.
Nothing wrong with plagiarising from history Joe, and a good idea, need to go and look at the Air Cav from Vietnam for more ideas

  7. The vehicles are brilliant, the Typhoons especially, they look great, did you sculpt them as well as the bikes?

    1. Thank you John, the only thing I did to the speeders was switch the missile pods round so the long edge was horizontal, rather than vertical, this also men't the magazine rack wasn't on view for a sniper to take a pot shot at. I also did different looking crew so to add more interest

    1. Thank you Iain, the hairy heads would be a vast improvement on the original sculpts, as I liked the idea that the space wolves scouts were gnarly old veterans
