OLD TO NEW

Have put up some new releases on the company website today, but for long time followers of the blog you will have seen these over the last year in sculpt form, first is the two Zombie victim and feeder sets

Next is the bar room table and chair sets

Also have released a bed and chair for use inside of buildings or spaceship interiors

To add to the bar room furniture I've made a barman, I will be using one as Wuher in my Star Wars cantina

The last piece to show today is something for my Kroot force, now you may be wondering how this fits with today's title, well this model was until recently going to be a Clawed Fiend for my Dark Eldar force, but was only a basic shape, and have now made it into a Warp Kroot. This has all come about from Roger highlighting Monster May on Angry Pipers blog angrypiper  he has also got some great gaming on his blog especially if you like Star Trek.
The idea behind this figure was one that Mark Bedford and I were chatting about when he worked at Specialist Games, when Kroot win a combat they always consolidate so as to recover parts from their kills to eat then or later, the one exception to this was Chaos, as they won't eat tainted meat, we thought it would be cool if a Dark Shaper experimented and tested out the meat on a Kroot to see what would happen to their mutagenic genes, and this is what I came up with

Looking forward to starting to paint this tomorrow and change some of the tones I normally use, unfortunately I don't have any plastic Kroot to make the Dark Shaper and handlers at the moment, so they will have to wait.
That's it for today, so until next time stay safe and have fun !
Cheers Dave

  1. Love these Dave! The feeders are so wonderfully disturbing! I shall be treating myself to the bar man at some point, but so much Castle Itter work to finish first.

    1. Thank you Michael, want to add some more effects to the feeders when the shops open, no problem on the barman and fully understand needing to finish your castle work first

  2. Awesome work, Dave, as the paint-jobs on the zombie feeders are top notch. Great work on the Barman etc too... you've definitely got an eye for these things :-)

    1. Thank you Simon, it’s easy to add too much blood on the zombies, so had to keep a bit of restraint ! lol
All the other bits will prove useful for my Star Wars project either in the cantina or one of several spacecraft

  3. Nice work mate. The actor who was the barman in Star Wars, was once the person they had to spot from a line up after seeing the cantina clip, on the "Kryton Factor" back when I was a child, don't know why I remember this but its stuck in my mind all these years :-)

    Cheers Roger.

  4. The Warp Kroot looks cool. Its going to be interesting to see how you paint it up, as there's certainly plenty of scope for the colours.

What is the sculpting materials you've used on the miniature, can I ask? I recognise the greenstuff, but the grey... (if you say it's literally 'Greystuff', I'm going to look a right plonker I realise)

    1. Thank you Roy, hopefully the painting won’t disappoint.
How did you know it was called greystuff ! lol just kidding it’s magic sculpt and the first time I’ve tried it, bought it a while ago and never got around to giving it a go, until I ran out of greenstuff, it is more like milliput in it’s properties as it drys hard easily scraped and sanded, just doesn’t crack as much. You can mix it with greenstuff to get a blend of both properties

    2. The mutated form imagery took me a while to think upon what it was that I'd read, that had such a creature as your Warp Kroot.

Fire and Stone, the AVP / Aliens / Predator / Prometheus cross-over comic series. Some of the black gunk the Engineer's used got onto - into things and mutated them all to b-ggery. Couldn't shake the image of comic image that your kroot brought into my head. Mutated Xenomorphs, androids, humans. All very (GW) Chaos Spawn.

Greystuff. Can't remember where I heard of this stuff. Might be I'm getting mixed up with ProCreate. Not that I've use ProCreate. Was told about it by a sculptor, when I asked for help with a conversion.

Thanks for the info. on the magic sculpt. I doubt I'll ever use it, but you never know.

    3. I think it’s an image that is used often to be honest Roy, as you see it in the film series of Resident Evil as well.
Have heard of procreate and greystuff but never tried either yet, I was recommended the magic sculpt by a couple of other sculptors and wanted to give it a try

  8. I loved seeing these zeds the first time around, as Michael states, they are disturbing.
I suspect your 'STar Wars' barman would be equally comfotable ina medieval setting (and many others) - generic characters like hinm are a boon.
Wonderful sculpting on the critter too.

    1. Thank you Joe, really liked making the zeds as they were a request to add to our range, as you say the barman would fit in multiple settings which adds to it’s versatility.
Is great to finally have built the warp Kroot as it’s been an idea for many years, and should have an update on him very soon

  9. Great work, Dave. I particularly like the spaceship furniture. Could be just the thing I need for more Star Trek skirmishes!

    1. Thank you Dai, the feeders were all Andys idea, I think I captured what he wanted as he’s already painted his sets.
Got a few human clientele in the works to add to the bar
