So my first full year of blogging is now under my belt, so what did I manage to achieve ? I actually managed to paint more of my own hobby models then business models, in fact more hobby models than the last 10 years combined. Now the total is mostly IA miniatures but that's not a bad thing as it means I'm closer to playing the campaign I want to. So what's the totals I hear you ask ? 142 hobby models and 46 business models, I didn't include any repairs or repaints I did for the business just new paints.
Recently on Simon's blog fantorical he mentioned my Star Wars painting as obsessive ! LOL I like to think of it as focused which has meant less distractions and actually achieving my desired goal, which is my current collection all painted. Now I haven't managed it completely as I still have some Stormtroopers to paint, but all the rest are now done including basing, which in hindsight I should have done as I went not wait until the end, what a chore that was ! LOL So here's what they look like all done
the imperials combing the desert for the droids their looking for !
a very small Tusken Camp
all the adventurer's in one place
annual meeting of the Droids Against Oppression
annual picnic of Bounty Hunter's at Hangmans rock
patron's of the cantina make a quick exit as the Wookie ordered the Chilli !
Jabba and his denizens take the Rancor for his annual walk
So what does 2019 hold for me, I would like to continue with my IA stuff as my main focus hobbywise, but also like to finish some Judge Dredd models I've got, and also take part in Forgotten Heroes again, possibly doing not as many models as I did last year ! But we will have to wait and see.
2019 for the business will see new models and scenery through the year starting in February no new releases in January, as people have a lot to do after Xmas, and recovering credit cards. We have Sci-Fi scenery planned, Post Apocalyptic, some Fantasy and a new gladiator race and creature for Death Match. If you have ideas you would like to see us build drop me a message, as always happy to take on new ideas and suggestions.
In closing I would like to wish you all a Happy, Safe and Productive New Year, so until next time in 2019 have fun !
Cheers Dave

What a mouth-wateringly good year's work, Dave, and many congratulations on getting the first twelve months under your belt. This is definitely the go-to website for all things "Star Wars: Imperial Assault", imho, as well as a great advertisement for your green-stuff wizardry. Really looking forward to the next twelve months, and a huge thanks for posting all this stuff up, so I can "coo" and "gurgle" at the minis and paint-jobs :-)
I must admit it's been hard this year trying to achieve balance between hobby and business, and several times through the year thought about giving up the blog as I got too distracted from what I needed to be working on, but glad I persevered. Hopefully next year will be easier, just need to plan ahead better, and less of the OH SHINY ! LOL
Handing you the running of TGC was a good move, and you prove this time and time again with your weekly articles. Gave me space to breath and re-evaluate what I wanted to do and where I wanted my hobby to go.
All the best, and may your 2019 be a brilliant one.
Glad you've had the time to reevaluate and focus on where you want to go with your hobby, and look forward to seeing what you do with your new blog.
Hope 2019 is better than how 2018 finished for you mate.
And the Typo's are back ! ROFL
I mostly mass with historical games nowadays, blog wise anyway I mean. But I keep threatening to start another one dedicated purely to Mage Knight and Horror Clix. I got a few thousand Mage Knight minis and many hundred Horror ones too, and I notice no one on line seems to be talking about that game at all nowadays. Maybe there`s an opening ^^
mess......... I meant mess.
Yeah Hils having to go over to England to look after her parents wasn`t expected and altered all our plans especially with guests and everything. Course she had to buy her flight over last minute AFTER we had already spent all that money on grub and everything, yeeesh! But we made the best of it, and will have our own special private little affair when she gets back (in three weeks uuuugh!!!).
Interesting that you plan on moving on to another set of rules for your future Dash adventures. Imperial Assault is masterly, no doubt about it. But its a bit like Zombicide (also masterly), great for playing as a boardgame with miniatures in it, and gives you a certain (if somewhat shallow) campaign potential. But if you want to play zombie games on par with something like "Walking Dead" you`d need to find something with more depth, like "All Things Zombie" or what not. Imperial Assault is a bit like that too isn't it. GREAT game, but not ideal if you want to take the experience away from what it is and more into a true RPG.
Imperial Assault is actually heavily based off of Wizards of the Coast`s Star Wars Miniatures Skirmish game, which (in my honest opinion) was a far better game: and didn`t go out of print because it was unpopular but because Wizards realised the bottom had gone out of the (over saturated) market with random packaged tradable miniatures and ditched out of the whole thing. That game in turn ran off the slightly early D&D Skirmish Miniatures game, and so 3rd edition D&D miniatures and Star Wars miniatures were very compatible - stat card and rules wise: in fact the two games were interchangeable. Wizards of course simply sold the rights to Fantasy Flight.
If you are looking for a good game in which to place Dash Rendar.. you might want to check this old game out Dave. No other Star Wars games on the market since this, has equalled this classic. Many provide nice eye candy, but if its rules and playability you want, Wizards got it soooo right.
I think I like your massive droid collection best of the IA stuff, that isn't to say that the rest of it isn't might impressive too, here's to 2019.
Cheers Roger.
I see we have a similar sense of humour !
Still a few more droids needed, found where I can get the two medical droids, and really need to finish the power droid and K2 and I'm sure there is more I'll find I need as well ! I wish OCD came with a switch so I can turn it off from time to time ! ROFL
I liked at the first picture and thought oh dear he's using a comb for scale! Why didn't he use a rule?
Then I read the cheesy caption :)
Well done on a good year.
Yes my silly sense of humour rears it's head from time to time ! ROFL
Hope you had a great New Year mate
I'll also second Stephen Gilbert on the old WotC game being something that would probably be worth your while looking into - I haven't played IA skirmish, but the WotC skirmish is a simple and fun time.
Steve has already sent me the rules so I'm currently reading through to see what areas I need to tweak
