Around the back of the cantina in Mos Eisley in the detailed exposed diagram, there showed a shop which I made some time ago when I built the cantina, but it also showed some market stalls that you can see in this expanded picture.
Currently I'm trying to find the cloth I use to make my awnings, but in the mean time I thought I would start with the ruined building you see in the bottom right hand side of the picture. The main construction is foamboard, with a light smear of wall filler to add texture. The exposed dome framework was made from plastic strip.
Below is a close up of the wanted posters I used on this building.
I thought these would be very fitting for behind the cantina ! LOL Painting was very simple on this so was relatively quick. While I wait to make the awning at the front I've decided this will be a rug vendor, the square building at the back of the cantina will be clothes. The next two vendors will be fruit and Gorgs, and the two awnings attached to the cantina itself will be jewelry and creatures, so that should give me plenty to keep me busy, and if not there is always the front of the cantina to consider ! LOL
That's all for today, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave

Nice work on the building, Dave! :-) Walls and posters look spot on! Will be good to see the market stalls!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, should be a nice variety of subject material, then I'll need the sellers, always something more ! LOL
DeleteThe market stalls are really coming together. Excellent work on those and I love the wanted posters in particular. Will you be adding a lot of junk in between the stalls? That could be a bit of a pain but I think it will really bring Tatooine to life at the same time, if you can manage.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, got a few more posters for other buildings at a later point. in the picture above they have moisture vaporators and vents which I will include, but other stuff inbetween as well as relevant rubbish will add a lived in look.
DeleteLovely bit of terrain work.
ReplyDeleteYou've nailed the colours and textures.
Thank you misterc, I have several base colors I use, depending on the look I want for a particular building, as this was a damaged building I went with the darker one.
DeleteLovely work as always sir, fantastic eye for detail! Oh and what's a Gorg?
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger.
Thank you Roger, in episode one Jar jar tried stealing a Gorg from a stall, which ended up in Sebulba's lap ! LOL basically they are a alien lizard/amphibian with wide heads.
DeleteI love it! The infrastructure looks so good and can't wait to see what you use for the awnings?
ReplyDeleteThank you Michael, the awnings will be made from a cotton material soaked in pva glue, over frames.
