As Keith's challenge Forced March draws to a close I have another unit finished, an old metal Raptor squad, I much prefer these models to the new plastics, but it probably isn't a legal unit anymore, but not to worry as they will still get used in my house ! LOL
I've painted them up as Night Claws ( the Chaos element of the Night Hawks chapter), the hardest part on these were the base, I tried painting the bit they are balanced on as smoke first, didn't look right, then as magic, looked even worse, so in the end went for vegetation, which was the best of the three. Originally these models were going to be a Chaos army called the Sons of Malal, but I only ever painted the raptor champion I remembered to take a picture before repainting.
The next thing today isn't a squad, or unit but a trio of Servitors, two armoured, and a small one carrying a book, they were part of a set that never got released in the UK, but a friend got them from the US for me, many years ago, and they've waited until now, to finally get painted.
I can probably mix these in with the Mechanicum model I have as part of the Inquisitor's force. I still have five unfinished squads on my desk, and two speeder squadrons, but I feel the need to paint some individuals for a while, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Another part of great looking miniatures sir!
ReplyDeleteWarm regards
Thank you Michal, something a little different from the rest of this months posts ! LOL
DeleteAll look really good, Dave! :-) The vegetation for the flying bases looks spot on!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, wish I'd thought of it first instead of third attempt ! LOL
DeleteI had never seen these servitors. They look great! I really like the colourfull details you put in with hazard stripes and the cabling!
ReplyDeleteThank you XarfaiEngel, always good to show models rarely seen, I did start with just plain silver all over, but it looked dull and boring, so added little pops of color that people associate with the Mechanicum.
DeleteI remember these models were released to replace their older versions. Still wicked cook stuff backed by proper paintwork 😎
ReplyDeleteThank you demi_morgana, I wasn't a fan of the previous Raptor's, and the later plastics lacked character compared to these in my opinion, so was happy to have these ! LOL
DeleteNice raptors and excellent servitors!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, fun to finally get them in paint, only taken 20years ! LOL
DeleteThe Raptors are excellent, Dave. But those Servitors really steal the show. Great work on them. You've clearly been patient picking out all of their little details in a variety of colours. Nice hazard warning hatch-marks too - black & yellow, not a combo I'd look forward to painting. LOL!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, I wanted to limit the additional colors to a minimum, while still adding points of interest, and hazard stripes are a quick way of doing that, I paint it all yellow shaded and highlighted first, then once dry add just plain black, with no highlight, as the yellow sell the dark areas, lazy way of painting ! LOL
DeleteA US exclusive release from GW!? Its hard to imagine anything like that happening now! Those are some cool little minis and its great that you've had time to finally polish them off! The Night Claws look great as well. A very evil looking lot, if I've seen any!
