FORCED MARCH Part 2

Keith's Forced March challenge also includes vehicles, especially if you have done multiple. You may remember this landspeeder I did a long time ago

I've given it a quick update to include chapter symbol on the tail, claw tattoo's on the crews face, and chipping to make it look used and individual. For it's two squadron members I've had to look to ebay, as GW have ceased production of these vehicles in favour of the Primaris version. Both had been stuck together and crew glued in, unfortunately both had not been put together properly, and needed repairing before painting, no idea on what glue they used, but it was strong, so couldn't get the crew out, and had to paint them in situ, luckily the shoulder pads were missing, so I could add in my own symbols and paint them before gluing them in. The antenna snapped off in transit to me, which wasn't a problem as I replace them with wire, also both were missing weapons, but luckily I have plenty of spares.

As customary here is a group shot of the now completed squadron.

I have another speeder from this purchase, to show later, as that had more problems to deal with, but more on that in it's own post, so that's all for today, so until next time, stay safe and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. Loving the freehand tail art!
So are the marines of old being retconned altogether by the Primaris then? I mean, I guess they could. Be sad to see those golden oldies go...

    1. Thank you Dai, the tail art does make each one individual as I can't replicate perfectly ! LOL
Currently there are four old kits that are available, tactical squad, devastator squad, and vanguard veterans, with the scout Kill Team, there are a few old kits for different chapters as well, and that all depends on whether their in stock as well ! LOL

    1. Thank you Michal, it's easier on shoulder pads, as I have moulds to press them out now, but the tails are just paint ! LOL

  3. the plastic land speeders were nice to convert and mess around with. I'm happy seeing these out in the wild.
not sure if it would fit your theme and maybe a little work could be done but if you could find the dark angels Samael, leader of the Ravenwing model that would be a great character centerpiece for your fast attack detachment.

    1. Thank you Mr. Martin, the plastics are a lot easier to change than the old metals and resin ones ! LOL
I actually have both versions of him, the landspeeder one leads the company of landspeeders and the jetbike will lead the company of jetbikes when I build them, so great minds think alike ! LOL the sppeder can be seen here https://wargamesculptorsblog.blogspot.com/2020/03/whos-in-charge.html

    3. Thank you, lots of conversion work on those speeders and bikes, at some point I'd like to do a Techmarine in a larger vehicle about the size of a stormraven, but will have to see on that idea ! LOL

    1. Thank you Suber, it is different to the GW detailed chapters, but that's what I like about it ! LOL I've got 3 squadrons left to do for the fourth company, then hopefully I can move onto the second company jetbikes.

Nicely done, Dave! :-) I like the battered blue look of the speeders themselves!

    1. Thank you Roger, if I'd been sensible I'd have made a template for a stencil, but would have had to make one for each size of vehicle ! LOL
