So Keith's Forced March has now begun and today I have my first entry the second squad of scouts that I got back at Christmas, once I heard of Keith's challenge I saved these for it. They were painted with the same method I showed earlier. The first three include the Sergeant, the demolition expert, and the sniper
I have one criticism of these models, the demolition trooper and sniper don't have a pistol in their boot holster, small niggle for me, the other four are basic troopers.
and here is the group shot of the whole squad
I'm thinking in gaming terms, I will group the snipers from all the squads I have, and also all the demolitions troopers in squads together, then move the troopers around to make up the numbers in the squads. That's all for todays post, so until next time, stay safe, and have fun !
Cheers Dave
Lovely Star Wars minis Dave, great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Phil, almost to the end of this latest batch of white ! LOL
DeleteFantastic work Dave. My favourite type of Imperial soldiers.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michal, they do have a certain type of charm don't they ! LOL Don't think I have a solid favourite, as I can see great points with all of them.
DeleteYasss! Lurve me some TB's! They look great Dave. Agreed on the lack of pistol in those boot holsters tho - and I'm surprised you didn't add a cheeky custom one in there yourself!?
ReplyDeleteThank you Dai, my sculpting wasn't up to tricky bits like that yet, but hopefully soon, or I'll take an instant mould off of the old Fantasy Flight version ! LOL
DeleteGood stuff sir! I see you're hitting the ground running again with this challenge as usual 😏.
ReplyDeleteCheers Roger
Thank you Roger, after two fails last year, just trying to put as much in to the challenges ! LOL
DeleteHaha, Dai's right! You have to sculpt them! No, seriously, i love them and how you got them totally perfect :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Suber, hopefully soon on the blasters ! LOL Went heavy on the dirt on these, and it seemed to work well.
DeleteThat is a very formidable looking squad. I reckon that many troopers can hit something on the opposing side... hopefully! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeff, the law of averages should mean they hit something ! LOL
DeleteWow!! You're off to a flying start for Forced March, Dave. I've been reading about how much more favourably these new SWL sculpts are being received by the community over the older ones. They do seem a little thinner though. Is that true..?
ReplyDeleteThank you Simon, the new plastic is a lot stronger and not so bendy, they are pretty much exactly the same size as the old ones, they just lack some of the details of the old ones, like the lenses on the eyes aren't as crisp and missing weapons as I noted above, so each set had their strengths and weaknesses.
DeleteA good start, Dave! :-) I do like the sniper!
ReplyDeleteThank you John, it is a great pose isn't it.
DeleteThese are great. I don't have any scout troopers... I keep enjoying your posts and really want to go back to playing a Star Wars RPG, and expand my SW figure collection. (Last campaign was maybe 20 years ago.) Too many games to play and not enough time!
ReplyDeleteThank you anonymous, these new models are good, and can see the appeal of getting in any games at all ! LOL Can fully agree on the not enough time and too many systems ! LOL
DeleteBang-up job on these as always, Dave. My first submission is predominantly white too, a color I loathe to paint. I might try your method, although mine are a bit more cartoonish...
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith, It's a problem to paint, until you find a recipe you are happy using, took me a while to get one I was truly happy with, but still some of the old methods as well when painting different textures, look forward to seeing your first entry mate.
DeleteGreat looking storm troopers,as always!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thank you Iain, got one more squad of basic Stormtroopers to do, and from then on only planning on specialised units to add in, think I have more than enough of the basic ones now ! LOL
