CAN WE FIX IT

With the challenge starting soon, some may wonder why I'm still posting up stuff, well it's not like I'm likely to run out of models during the challenge, plus I'm trying to move a lot of stuff out of my room at the moment, as were hoping in the new year to get my hobby room finished, with custom shelving and a bed which help my health a lot. So first up today is a Tech Marine on jetbike, this is actually version 3, 1 was okay but felt I could do better, version 2 never got into paint, but the front and mid section made it into version 3 with a new engine and wings, the tech itself came off of version 1.

Painted in my normal color scheme, and the grab was a lot of work, but worth it. Next is a Tech Adept, you may remember that in my background the Imperium are investigating my chapter, and sent a Inquisitor, I thought it would make sense that they sent a full entourage and a tech would make a lot of sense, the model is a Forgeworld one, not sure if they still sell it, as so many are now out of production.

Went with normal Tech colors red and white, with lots of metals. I've also finished another squad of Kroot reinforcements, these are for the Krootox squad, which now has 5 Krootox, and 17 Kroot, which is a pretty descent size.

These are all kitbashed and not as GW intended, but add some nice variation to the squad, painted in my normal colors just variations. Who knows I may have another post before the challenge, but until then have a Great Christmas, and stay safe, and have fun !

Cheers Dave

  1. I nearly forgot about ‘the chalkenge’ thanks for reminding me not to read blogs for the next three months. The challenge is so false, naff and boring.

This link says it all as far as I'm concerned.

    3. I echo the position about The Challenge. It’s so awful and contrived. Simon

    4. Is it rude to express an opinion contrary to yours? Long liver free speech! I am not a fan of the challenge either, Mike

    5. Anonymous is entitled to his opinion, as is Dai, but checking details is also good, as my challenge only runs for two months, and as I am the host and wasn't rude in my reply, this is getting as much attention as my blog does for the models.

    6. I do not do the anologue hobbies painting challenge either. I kind of leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth. The Canadian couple and their sycophants are a bit creepy with all the Snowlord nonsense and the crawling. Uuurrggghh Daniel F

    7. The challenge on this site is not and has never been the analogue hobbies challenge, the paint what you got challenge is run by me, and I'm not Canadian (not that should make any difference), it is just a bit of fun between hobbyists, if you don't like this challenge or the other one you are moaning about don't join in, but don't belittle the people who are either, as I will not tolerate that on my blog, and have the right to delete any negative comments the same as I do with spam comments, Have a great Christmas.

  2. I like the tech-jet-bike. Wonder what he plans to do with that rocket nacelle?

That FW techpriest is one I really regret not picking up. Just a lovely sculpt and about as accurate a depiction of those weird binary-speaking worshippers of the Omnisiah.

    1. Thank you Dai, he could be thinking of making another Jet Bike, as I used most of the same bits to make his engine ! LOL
He was a total impulse buy, saw it at a show, and just bought it, then came up with a reason to have him ! LOL

Nice work on all of these, Dave! :-) I really like the bike and that is clever adding the grab and using it to support the bike!

    1. Thank you John, hiding supports can be a pain, so using the grab and the support as a cable did both for me, did have to paint the piece inside the engine as you could see it through the exhaust ! LOL

  4. Great stuff, especially that jet bike, it really looks like a bit of working kit.
It must be the time of the year, but that tech marine looks like a santa marine

Hope the hobby room refit goes well.

    1. Thank you misterc, did a bit of research to get the grab looking right, and added a lot of chipping like you see on modern day equipment, definitely the time of year when red and white conjures up thoughts of a jolly fellow ! LOL
Was always last on the list as only I would benefit, but with the health scare this year my wife really wants to get it done now.

  5. I'm in the same mode as you, Dave, and am trying to get some stuff done even if the challenge hasn't kicked off properly yet. Its nice to see such variety in your work this time around. That Tech Adept is a cool miniature and a nice reminder of why the mechanical side of 40k is appealing. Its great to see some more Kroot as well. You can't have too many of those!

    1. Thank you Jeff, just really trying to get back up to speed, and it's not like I have any shortage of models to paint in the challenge ! LOL It just happened that all three projects were finished within a day or two of each other, and as they are all 40K models thought why not group them together.

    1. Thank you Iain, feels good to finally get the jetbike finished in a way I'm happy with, as it's been a long time since second edition when I first did version 1 ! LOL Tech priests are probably the most seasonal looking model for the time of year ! LOL
