RESCUE TECH

No I'm not talking about saving a crashed PC, but a Tech marine for my Night Hawk Chapter. In version 1 and 2 of 40K Tech Marines were a individual choice, by 3rd Edition they became an option in a command squad, then later they went back to being an individual choice again. This Tech was originally built when he was part of a command group, And I had converted it to fit in with scout armour, as this now no longer fits, I needed to make him look more like a standard Tech Marine, the legs were from the first metal MK 7 armour released and the arms came from some of the plastic arms released.

As you can see from the WIP pics below, I added quite a bit of greenstuff to bring together the overall look.

I have some other Tech Marine parts to be salvaged and brought back into service at some point.

In other news I have reached over 100000 views, when I started this blog back in 2019, I never dreamed I would ever get that many views, so a huge thank you to all who have dropped in over the years.

That's all for this post, next time will be some Star Wars, and then onto Monster May(hem), so until next time stay safe and have fun !

SOMETHING FISHY

When Roger was coming up with his challenge, everybody had to pick four words from his lists, my firstr choice was Alien, part armoured, ranged weapon, mercenary, obviously this is a vague starting point, but I had an idea of an evolved fish type alien, loosely based on a Mudskipper ( a fish that can move over land, holding it's breath) using that as a basis and the four words I chose I came up with this.

It needs two water pockets to fit over it's gills, which I will cast in translucent blue resin, so it doesn't need to hold it's breath. Is it worth putting this into production ? As it's very different from a lot of models and races that other companies make.

If you haven't signed up for Keith's Monster May(hem) the registration is up now.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

APEX OF THE STORM

Have now finished the third member of the Typhoon squadron, which is another squadron completed. Same conversion as before, just different crew again, as I like plenty of variance among my marines.

Here it is with the rest of his squadron, and the other squadron I had already done, but have gone in and added the chipping on these as well.

I'm now about half way through the company, I need to do two squadrons of Tornados which I already have the models for, two more Tsunami's which I need to finish making, two more Tempest's which I need to get, and two more standard speeders, which I also need to get. for the final squadron I'm thinking of using the Dark Angels Land Speeder Vengeance as the basis, if they are ever back in stock.

In other news I'm happy to report that the challenge Ogre has been moulded and the first test cast done, with no problems or voids or air holes, so are now ready to start taking requests on these, don't forget to let me know whether you want square or round base, or no base at all.

That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

I HAVE THE POWER

Droids that is ! LOL Yes I've painted a couple more Power Droids for Star Wars.

The GONK power droid is based on the Rebel courier from Star Wars Rebels EG-86 simple enough colour scheme to copy.

The PLUNK droid was a colour scheme I found online, but don't know where from, at a guess I would say the Clone Wars cartoon series.

This brings my totals up to 4Gonk droids, and 2 PLUNK droids, so will probably still need to do some more at some point, but I would really like to get some R3's done as I have none, as they need clear domes, will have to see what I can come up with. That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe, and have fun !

YOU'LL GO BLIND DOING THAT !

Yes I've been finishing more tiny spaceships ! LOL I've now completed most of the Imperial ship I have, first is the oldest ship we've seen the TIE fighter

Then we have the TIE Bomber

The TIE Interceptor

The TIE Defender

And lastly the TIE Phantom, I've tried to show the cloaking device activating on the one on the right, and fully cloaked on the one on the left, I have three more of these to do, and will have another go at this, to see if I can improve the effect.

So That's all the Imperial ships that I currently have finished bar the Phantoms, I will get more but probably no more Defenders or Phantoms, as at the point in time I'm gaming the Defender was being tested and the Phantom hadn't been invented, and neither were in full production. That's all for this post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

RINSE AND REPEAT

Another Landspeeder Typhon today, I know it is a bit repetitive, but that's sometimes the way things go in this hobby ! LOL One part of the conversion I forgot to mention with the last one, was removal of the small blast shield, and cab bar, which all add to changing the look of the model.

Now for anyone who doesn't know what a standard one of these looks like I've included a picture below.

The third one probably wont be my next post, as I don't want to be predictable, plus I need to cast up some shoulder pads for the crew, so hopefully I can do something Star Wars instead, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

STORM BREWING

I haven't got much painting done recently, between all the sculpting, and painted orders I've been doing, but have managed to finish a Landspeeder Typhon, I have two more to finish the squadron, which are about 50% done, but hopefully can get them finished before too long ! LOL I've done this one as the squadron leader hence the pilots helm being red to denote his sergeant status.

The missile pods are not fitted as GW suggests, as I prefer the look this way round, and I also removed the bumper plates that go around the front, as I think they look sleeker like this. This brings me one step closer to having an entire company of speeders, really need to get the Tornado squadrons done at some point ! LOL That's all for this little post, so until next time stay safe and have fun !

DRAGONKIN

Last post I showed how far I had got on the Dragonkin model, I have now finished the green of this model. My idea behind these is that Dragons evolving, if you think of a traditional Dragon would be a Great One, this type of Dragonkin would be a Trueborn the first evolution and the most powerful and in charge, and then another subset that no longer fly, smaller almost human sized that are the foot troops to a army. I may do some more to this army, as I've enjoyed doing this one. The armour I took inspiration from Egyptian armour, but I've added in some feathers with the helm, still undecided on what colours to paint it yet, as I want to do some blue gold armour, but I have the rest of the month to decided.

I will be moulding this at the same time as the Ogre, so it should be available soon, as will the Ogre for anyone doing the challenge. That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !

THE MONSTERS ARE COMING

As May is rapidly approaching, and I want to take part in Monster May(hem) again over on Keith's site angrypiper I thought it would be a good idea to have some monsters prepared so I can spend the time painting rather than building. I thought I would show you how I approach building one. First you need a frame, now there are many materials you can use, so what I use is a guideline, and not the only way. I've recently started using foam on bigger models to cut down costs and time to get the bulk of the shape, and for the limbs I've used paperclips, as they are easy to get hold of, cheap, and easy to bend.

After this stage if you are doing fur of scales instead of skin, I build the basic muscle shapes, to give a surface to work against when I come to texture the model. If I was doing bare skin, I would sculpt it straight to the paperclip like I did with the Ogre. An idea on how muscle groups are placed on the anatomy and how they function is very useful for this stage.

Once the above stage is dry you can then add the texture, by laying a layer of green over the top of the muscle structure, and then working the texture in, as this one is covered in fur, I started at the end of a limb and using small strokes added the layers of the fur in, if you want longer fur, you use longer strokes, and if you want a rough fur look, use sweeping strokes in multiple directions, always working down but either left or right, to give the rough look.

Once the fur was dry, I then added all the spikes, the rough fur helped, with the green sticking to it because of the texture. Once painted this will give me the second Clawed Fiend I need for my Wych Cult army.

I've started another fantasy monster, as my choice for Rogers challenge would have been a Dragonkin, I didn't voice my choice on Roger's site as I wanted to see what everyone else wanted, knowing I could build my choice anyrate, and this is how far I've got so far, I'm making it castable, so it will be available on my site, it will have armour added. That's all for this post so until next time stay safe and have fun !
